our store is connected to a chipotle (which has no drive thru and idk of a chipotle that does), and occasionally we’ll have people try and order a damn burrito bowl through the drive thru, but if there are cars behind them, they’re trapped in the starbucks and for some reason, their inability to pay attention is our fault, lol. it’s so annoying cuz where i live people are so impatient and rude and start ordering before i even greet them at DTO, so i like to be a smartass sometimes and let them finish their order and say “if you closely at our menu you’ll see that this is a starbucks and not a chipotle.”

Someone asked me if we sold cigarettes.....lol

My favorite interaction like this was when I had a lady adamantly calling the sausage and cheddar a McMuffin. I was on ovens and my co SSV was on DT orders and we kept giving each other weird looks during the order (it was a huge order, too.) every time the lady said “McMuffin” co SSV would repeat back “sausage, egg, cheddar and finally at the end of the order the lady goes “I don’t know why you keep saying sausage cheddars when I’m trying to order some damn McMuffins!!” Co SSV was feeling smartassy and responds “I’m sorry to inform you ma’am but we are not McDonald’s .” I was doubled over from laughing so hard. Then when I brought the lady’s bagged up food to him I told him I’d give him $20 if he handed them out and called them McMuffins. He absolutely jumped on that xD

Today I got a girl who came through drive with her dad and asked if we had any pop (which took me a moment because I’m a firm believer in using the word soda) and I said no. And then when they got up to the window the dad leaned over and yelled “HEY!” as I was walking away to help another customer (yes dt is planted but we had a bad day today) and I turned around and he said “so you’re telling me you really don’t have a soda fountain? No fountain drinks at all?” And I said “no we don’t” and he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Like sir… what?

And then those who are dead set on the “Under the Sea” refresher. We have had many customers get mad when we explain that it doesn’t exist, and the barista who posted it on TikTok did it as a joke with cleaning products.

It's insane, but yes, I've had that question before. Along with 'can I get the bacon gouda but on a croissant?'.

We're right next door to s sandwich shop and people.keep mixing up our buildings asking for some weird sandwiches or something and I always respond with "Uhhhh I have no idea what that is I think you want the place next door.."

Whenever people ask for a soda, I just bluntly say, “We don’t do that here,” immediately followed by, “Anything else I can help you with?”

We have grilled cheese and potato chips so maybe this one is a little more on us every year

This happens ALL the time here in Utah. We have more drive thru soda shops than one can count, and people always ask for sodas or energy drinks 😑

I worked at a sushi quick service/counter type restaurant before SB and got asked at least once a shift for chicken and cheese burgers.

our kiosk is next to the deli department so i've had more than one person come up in absolute silence expecting me to weigh and ring up their by-the-pound box until i told them the deli was directly to their left 💀

My store is in between a culvers and a taco bell. We get lots of confusion of people trying to order tacos or butterburgers

I had a guy order "just a drink" once. I think part of it was a language barrier, but he spoke English pretty well otherwise. "drink" was the only word he used, so after offering several other suggestions my barista and I just put through an iced coffee

It’s probably because they see the refreshers in cans or only go to Barnes and noble Starbucks or Target Starbucks.

I had someone very confidently order a plain bagel with butter and jelly. I was still pretty new then so I had to double check that we don't in fact sell jelly because she was SO confident about it
