Sorry in advance, but I'm really salty about this. About 2 years ago, my fellow ssv and very good friend got promoted to asm. A few months later, I asked her to be in my wedding and she said yes! Fast forward a year, and my sm got transferred. My new sm was going to be the friend! 3 weeks ago, I got covid and ended up getting long term side effects that are keeping me from going back to work so I had to go on a medical leave. My friend just called me today, with 6 days to go until the wedding, to tell me she can't even attend it, let alone being a bridesmaid. Apparently someone at our store thinks it looks bad that she's going to my wedding while I'm on a medical leave. I don't get it. Am I missing something? How is this a problem?

Sm here, close relationships when it's between a salaried partner and a non salaried partner when one supervises the other is pretty well frowned upon as well as could possibly be grounds for separation. It's in the partner guide. I'd talk to your friend, loop the dm in and let them know that this was planned well before they became your sm. Maybe ask to transfer so that you can continue your friendship. Congrats on the wedding!

She adamantly refuses to talk to the dm because she's afraid of getting in trouble. Apparently, she's worried that it'll look like favoritism for me to be on a medical leave and her to come to the wedding. I think our dm would understand, but she's very worried about losing her job.

I would be too if I were in your friends shoes. It's tricky.

I dont see how its a problem.. what ? You invited them before you even went on medical leave. Power trip imo
