“You must be a b word outside of work”(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Caffeineadick
Excuses me?? Like I Super cheery and overly sweet at work and some dude was just like “no body’s this nice all the time you must be a bitch outside of work.” Like SIR why did you say that??? Can people not just be nice and polite because they want too?
hadeschilddd149 points9m ago
Damn thats just beyond out of pocket to say to someone in general. Like, why are insulting someone so openly dude?? BEYOND rude. Im so sorry about that
mrcupcake1864 points9m ago
Oh wtf and out of nowhere too? Jesus! Also I’ve been told something like this as well at a different job, except they told me they didn’t like that I was so cheery and for me to stop being fake. Like ok bitch sorry I’m not miserable lol
Caffeineadick [OP]46 points9m ago
I get put on dto a lot the amount of people telling me to stop being cherry at 6in the morning is a lot but at the same time it’s 6am wake up faster and smell the roses
canidieyet_37 points9m ago
crazy thing is, if you aren’t cheery at 6am they’re going to be pissed about that too
StuffiesAndBeatSaber10 points9m ago
^^^ exactly. People will find fault in everything, keep doing your thing. :)
fredforthered7 points9m ago
I once said “good morning” while covering an afternoon shift and the customer said, “it’s afternoon.” I tried to laugh it off by explaining I was still in morning mode since I usually opened and she said I should still know the time. Some people just live to be antagonistic.
It’s absolutely free to be kind, even if you don’t have a sense of humor.
capsule_of_anxiety18 points9m ago
Literally. Had so many instance where someone said some dumb shit to me while I was on DTO/DTW such as, “Why do you look so tired? You work at a coffee shop” or “you need a cup of coffee maybe that’ll perk you up” (in a kinda mean tone, not that I was being rude but I just wasn’t enthusiastic being that it was probably 5AM but fine ig I gotta be a cheery barista robot at all hours of the day)
MrsOceanGrown6 points9m ago
Coffee doesn’t magically make you look like you’re sleeping beauty. Maybe the fact of having to run orders AND window is why I look like this. Get back here and work my position and let’s see how YOU look.
canidieyet_5 points9m ago
one of my shifts clopened four days in a row (close, open. close, open) and by that 4th day they looked like they were drug through hell on top of college stuff. people kept making snarky comments about it but jfc sleep 10 hours in 4 days on top of working 8.5 hours, and doing hours of homework after and see how you feel! i’d be exhausted too
ittybittybakerkitty32 points9m ago
Damn who pissed in his Cheerios to just say that to someone let alone someone serving you???
Responsible_Snow710912 points9m ago
Yea, right? Its like "hey i need something from u. I need u to do something for me and make something for me but also, jus wana let u kno that u must be a bitch outside of work". People like that are an embarrassment to the human race

Wh-...who just says that someone working wth!? That's out of line
Caffeineadick [OP]19 points9m ago
Right lmao? Like he’s right but don’t say that while my job is customer service? We’re nice because it pays the bills but it’s also nice just to be nice
Pepper-Mongoose12 points9m ago
So weird when customers comment on those kinds of things - recently had my co worker on DTR/DTO tell me that a man in drive said I should smile more when I’m focused on sequencing - I have RBF naturally and fixate on my pacing at bar and she told him “uhm okay” afterwards he caught himself and said “I’m just joking haha”
capsule_of_anxiety15 points9m ago
I definitely got RBF while I’m on bar, sequencing, making 4 different beverages at once.
TELL THAT MF PUT ON AN APRON AND TRY SEQUENCING ALL THE DRINKS ON ALL BARS WITH A HAPPY BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE THE WHOLE TIME AND SEE HOW HE FEELS 😒

He's taking his own attributes/traits of himself and deflecting it on to u. Some people are just so miserable that if they encounter anyone happier than them, ohhh it must be fake 🙄

"Interesting take, sir. But I guess it says more about you than me"

plantainpapii5 points9m ago
Yall take waaay too much shit from customers. That wouldve been a “i’m giving you a refund; have a good day, sir.”
Caffeineadick [OP]1 points9m ago
My last days the 26 I wanna play nice so I have the option of coming back😂
elz-belles5 points9m ago
I would’ve told them when I clock out so they can find out but I am, in fact, a bitch outside of work 😶🌫️ Sorry you had to experience this though. There are too many people out there who truly cannot stand to see other people sharing kindness and happiness. They’re too miserable on the inside. Hopefully some of your kindness rubbed off on them subliminally, though.
Affectionate_Fart4 points9m ago
I had a regular tell me he could tell my mood/the prior night by my hairstyle (emphasizing that I had “gotten laid” -.-) I told him to knock it off
Caffeineadick [OP]2 points9m ago
I- why would a regular say that like dude come on
Affectionate_Fart2 points9m ago
I dunno, but I told he was in the dog house.

Some people are just so miserable in their own life that they can’t fathom another persons happiness. A while ago I was opening and a man came in, I asked him what he’d like that day and he ran away so fast you’d think I attempted to set him on fire. according to my coworker that he complained to, I was “too happy and too nice and therefore I must be on drugs” my manager just laughed at me. don’t let was the silly customers say get to you :) you’re great.
Necessary_Low9393 points9m ago
In other words that means u can’t win either way. So I chose to be mean 🤡
MLGTheForkOnTheLeft3 points9m ago
Im sure he had ONE slightly negative experience from someone he was being an asshole towards, to feel the way they do (: It’s SUPER justified (:
Lightheaded_gamer2 points9m ago
He has small🤏🏼energy .
aspiringgrandpa2 points9m ago

politelymalicious1 points9m ago

Response- “only with you” 😎
floofxs21 points9m ago
What kind of people does this person have the misfortune of knowing?
jemappellelara1 points9m ago
Imagine someone’s life being so miserable they insult a random stranger, especially an employee offering them service.
Js_On_My_Yeet1 points9m ago
My response: Well you a bitch for thinking that lol
ohgeehval1 points9m ago
I was told last week by a regular customer “you’re always laughing” with an attitude and she was obviously upset with me about it . I had greeted her with a smile as I had just finished laughing with my coworkers about something and I legit looked at her in shock and made eye contact with another customer standing next to her at handoff and legit chuckled and said “ok” and walked away. Some customers are just miserable and like to take it out on others that are happy because they’re not.
