What is the funniest thing a customer has mispronounced?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by missrinkateki
Last night I had a customer order a caramel “robbin” frappe. It took me SO much not to laugh. I didn’t want the poor lady to feel stupid so I continued to call it a caramel Robbin until she left 😭

Gow-da is how they say it in the Netherlands. Just like Edam cheese is “ee-dam” but we say “edum”.

I wouldn’t say it’s funny but every time someone says “ventay” I die and crawl into myself like a bug
pinkshoesarecool23 points9m ago
I started saying Ventay and Trenti as a joke bc people get those messed up and now I say it normally sometimes when I don’t mean to lmao
Responsible_Snow710911 points9m ago
Lmao these two, ventay and trenti, are the biggest ones at my store. Lol every single day theres tons of people at mt store that pronounce those two words like that and I honestly love it because I think it's funny and it just kind of makes my day that much more lighter
meowdrian20 points9m ago
I had a customer the other day in cafe trying to order a trenta size and he said he couldn’t remember the name, (I like to let the customers work through this kinda thing without interrupting them unless they outright ask me because it’s more fun for me that way) he goes “The size after the venti! You know, the tr... trenton?”
That’s when I was like “Oohhh! The trenta? You got it. Can I get a name for your order?” He said “just put Trenton.”
I’ll never forget him 🥲
Responsible_Snow71096 points9m ago
Lmao i like the way that guy thinks. Thats hilarious 😆
Jfostr03 points9m ago
Had a lady coming through our drive thru for a while that would always say “Vintage” instead of venti even when we tried subtly correct her…

violaaesthetic3 points9m ago
Okay but feta is actually pronounced that way
Euphoric_Ad12405 points9m ago
WHAT!? 🥲
violaaesthetic1 points9m ago
Yea the first vowel is definitely not a diphthong like “ayee” all in one, but the accent is on the first syllable and the e sound is higher in Greek
diphenhydranautical9 points9m ago

“brown sugar OATMEAL shaken EXpresso” drives me mad. especially the oatmeal. you were so close, but somehow got very lost along the way.
FemboiTomboy3 points9m ago
"can i get a venti caramel macchiato but with only one shit- one shot in it?" him and my barista on dto died laughing lol
BlondeIPA3 points9m ago
We have a regular who always says “Tentra” regardless of what anyone says 😭😭
The one I always remember is: a guy came in and he was ordering for someone else. He had kind of hyped himself up and said, fully confident, “I’ll get a grande spumpkin pice latte!” And after a beat, he kind of deflated and goes “that’s not right”. Luckily he was a good sport and all of us laughed about it.
missgurll2 points9m ago
not a mispronunciation but yesterday a lady asked for “two pumps of notfat milk” which actually blew my mind
i do love when customers say megan dragonfruit though. that would be a good drag name for a barista
smmitten_by_kittens2 points9m ago
I had a customer ask for a "cheese dinaash(?)", it definitely threw me off for a sec.
scrtlyclyps2 points9m ago

Caramel Reuben crunch. Chicken and bacon poonani

I had a new one the the other day someone asked for I can’t remember the drink, but they said with pumps of Chia in it, which I just took to be chai, but made me start singing Ch-ch-chia pet lol or question if they actually thought we have chia seeds, but it didn’t get sent back so I think they just mixed up chai.

ac1dpuke1 points9m ago
“strawberry akeekee” was one of my faves and my ultimate favorite was “mocha fettuccini” instead of frappuccino
