How many remakes is too many? A grande rant that was supposed to be iced (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by fireflywaltz
On mobile, apologies 😅. Lady comes up, "My drink was made wrong, can you remake it? But actually I might want coffee, can I just get something else?" Me: "😑 Sure" Tries to get a cold brew, we were out today. So instead she decides on a remake after all. (London fog w/ 2 pumps vanilla and almond milk). "Let's see if you can get it right". The way I wanted to rage quit... Naturally after she sat for 45 minutes on her phone it was 'wrong' and she asked for a blonde vanilla latte. Okay, fine. Oh, but it was supposed to be iced, and the barista had to remake it. Seriously, how many remakes before we can stop? I feel like my manager would say "Well we should make the moment right", but what if it is glaringly obvious the customer is being picky for no reason to get free drinks? I'm sick of feeding into the entitlement, honestly.

Lmao idk the policy on how many remakes or if there is a policy on that but i would entertain her simply so i can keep taking back the other drinks so she can see shes not getting amy of the other "mistake" drinks cuz she knows what shes doing. So i would make her wait a bit longer than usual for each remake and not let her keep any of the prior ones so she can see what a fool shes acting like

I'm not 10000% sure what the baristas did but in general I don't give the 'mistake drink' back. I usually try and dump it out as fast as possible to stop them from asking to keep it lol.

Yeah that's what I do too. Like in general when customers say that there's something wrong with their drink or they specifically State what is wrong with their drink, I will be like oh can I look at the sticker real quick to see what's on there? Just because I genuinely want to see what their order says or whatever and they always give it to me and then I read it and I'm like oh I'm so sorry I can remake it for you and out of my two and a half years with starbucks, I don't know if I've ever had anybody ask me if they can keep the other drink. Maybe once but I'm not even sure about that cuz I vaguely remember a certain situation but they never really fight me on trying to keep any of the other drinks prior to the remake

We take them back at our store. If it was an honest mistake in ordering or if we have trainees on orders we will let them keep both. Many pissed off customer faces when we say " oh im so sorry I'll take that and have it remade right away"

Yea lol well they shouldnt be pissed if its truly not what they wanted. So then u kno if they do get annoyed and irritated and wana keep the other drink, then theyre being little shits lol if u go into starbucks and from the beginning only order 1 drink for yourself, then u shouldnt ask to keep the mistake drink if u were genuinely there to get yourself something only

My rule was always two times then a refund. We had regulars that would have their drink remade over and over because they didn’t like the barista on bar even though they were my best baristas. They had favorites who would be a little more heavy handed with toppings. Instead of just asking for more toppings they wanted it remade cause it’s “too cold,” “too hot,” “tastes like coffee,” etc.

I like that. I was on the edge of some variation of "I'm so sorry we can't make the moment right for you today, here's a recovery card/refund, goodbye". She was really pushing my limit for sure

I think after the first remake you need to start taking back all the drinks that are “wrong” that way she’s not getting 3 free drinks.

I don't think she kept the first one, and I do try to toss the 'mistakes' when I'm on bar, but she also sat with that first one for sooo long 💀 Just grinds my gears I guess lol

We had a customer do this once. Just stand at hand off and insist it was supposed to be iced. I had just taken over bar for the partner who made the initial drink. I’m like oh I’m so sorry, just one moment and I’ll make it for you. Then I hand it to her, “it was supposed to be hot!” People are so bored with their lives I swear they come in just to mess with us sometimes
