Personal Tips? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by itsnnotdamiann
A couple of weeks ago a customer had come through our stores drive thru, we had a little chat as they were waiting on their drink and before they left they asked me if they could give me a tip just for me. I went to go ask my SM about the policy for personal tips and they said nope, under no circumstances are we allowed to accept personal tips. But I was recently wondering about it because I keep seeing other baristas get personal tips as long as it's in a sealed envelope with their name on it. What is the actual policy for this?

if you receive a personal tip in a sealed envelope w/ your name on it you are allowed to keep it

Any tip you get has to go with the rest of the tips, unfortunately you can't pocket them even if the customer asks you to.

Usually when it happens I smile and say thank you, then put it in the jar as soon as they aren't looking

idk why you would want to. I want everyone at my store to be equally tipped, and correct my tips if they’re over what they’re supposed to be instead of lying about it and just saying its the correct amount. it’s unfair to my other baristas and would feel like stealing from them which goes against my morals.
