How to make a hot brown sugar oat shaken espresso (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by _thatdepressedchild_
Hewo everyone. I rang up a lady and she asked for a hot brown sugar oat shaken espresso. I was confused because shaken espressos are cold drinks. I asked her for the recipe on how to make it and ring it up, but she told me that a different Starbucks make it for her. It ticked me off internally because I knew that if I rang it up as BSOSE (hot) I would’ve gotten questions from the person on bar on how to make it, and the lady didn’t give me any hints on how they did it at the other Starbucks. I tried explaining how I can kinda do a latte with BS syrup and blonde espresso or a blonde americano with the syrup and oat milk but she ordered something else anyways. I’m still learning, so how would any of you barista would make the BSOSE hot?

I typically do what you did, latte with blonde shots, oatmilk, same syrup, and add cinnamon. I’ve seen others say it could also be a hot americano with blonde shots, oatmilk, syrup, and cinnamon which actually seems like it would be closer to what the iced version is built as, it really just depends if they want it more milky/more espresso based. To that note you could also just do an doppio/triple/quad espresso blonde in whatever size cup they want with oatmilk, syrup, and cinnamon. You’re right though you can’t ring it in as BSOSE hot.

Canada does have a hot version - it’s an americano misto (half hot water half steamed milk) but there’s not a menu item for that in the US

If someone ordered this, I would offer a latte with the brown sugar syrup and oatmilk and say we can add an extra shot of espresso just like you were explaining

I’m from Canada, so I don’t know if this is the same everywhere. But if a customer wants it hot it’s a Brown Sugar Oat Americano - (blonde americano misto with oat milk, brown sugar syrup, and cinnamon). I just gently let them know the proper name so it doesn’t confuse new hires still getting familiar with the til.

ETA: we do have a button for this hot version of the drink!

The other starbucks that she claims shes got it from before should have told her what its called or tell her to keep her drink sticker or receipt in case she wants to order at another store. Especially when its not a menu item. But i would have done it as a hot latte or like an americano with steamed oatmilk and cinnamon and brown sugar syrup (kinda like an americano misto which i think Canada has on their menus)

you could do a hot latte but u cant shake hot espresso without ice , the shaker will explode. i always forget to put enough ice in the shaker and then the heat of the espresso makes the lid shoot off and boom. espresso all over you and everything around you

SO one time I took it very literal and put those steaming hot shots into the shaker no ice shook it and it… exploded everywhere I mean everywhere
