Question about availability. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Asleep_Recording5767
So I want to work 24 hours 4 hours a day Monday-Saturday. I can work 8am - 12pm or 1-5pm but I don't want to work a full 8 hours. If I put in my general availability the 8am-12pm and 1-5pm, will my SM schedule me for both the intervals? I like feeling like I have more time in my day to do homework and chores.

You almost never get scheduled every day you are available in my experience. Starbucks is big on the concept of “leave some room for employees to get called in to cover a shift” so if your availability was limited to 24 hours a week you probably won’t get scheduled that

personally i doubt an sm would do that. also they might not schedule you 5 days in a row. Why can’t you work a 5.75 shift to get more hours without going over 8 hours. If you were scheduled that 4 times a week you’d be at 23 hours

if you’re asking whether your SM would schedule you to work 8-12 and 1-5 on the same day, the answer is no.

that said, I’d recommend telling your SM specifically that you want 4 hour shifts - it’ll be much easier for them to schedule you 24 hours a week with more flexible availability (eg, 9am-1pm or 10am-2pm). since they have to consider everyone’s availability as well as the store’s business needs, it’s not very likely that they’ll be able to always schedule you for the very specific timeslots you put.
