I’m stressed and gonna vent real quick.
So, my store tends to be a very divisive, cliquey one. The previous store manager had a habit of very obvious favouritism towards the shifts of the morning, but of course, she denied it. She would side with them for everything, even if they were in the wrong or if they treated the baristas poorly. It was super unbearable.
It only got worse at the end of last year because we got a transfer shift in who is the worst. The division between the dayparts was there but not as apparent. This shift came in and basically sliced the team clean in half. They influence the morning to band together and basically harass everyone else, especially the other shifts and any barista who is friends with them. They were also able to sway the store manager.
The manager transferred out last week, and I thought things would get better. Boy, was I wrong. This terrible shift is interviewing soon to become our SM because we are without a manager right now, and she is already making moves to push the shifts she doesn’t like out.
I’m at a loss. I really don’t know what to do in this situation because our DM also left, and we just got a new one. I’m stressed that this shift is gonna try to manipulate the new DM. I doubt E&C will do anything because nothing has technically been done yet, but I can feel the storm brewing.
I know many of you have your own problems with your stores, but what would you do in this situation, if anything?
