Is there any way around a 6 month wait for transfers?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by x37_
I started working over the summer and I didn’t consider that there might be a wait time on when you could transfer. I am traveling about an extra 45-an hour extra every shift because I can’t move to one closer to my school. My manager just told me I should have thought about that before starting at a location by my parents over the summer. Could I just quit and apply to the location closer, and how would that affect my employment considering training and stuff.

No, if you're moving then you can transfer within the 6 month period. They might drag their feet on it cuz its 45min and not like 3hr but I'd talk to your DM or partner resources.

There are absolutely ways around it, for various circumstances. I would reach out to your DM

It's totally been said if you move you don't have to wait 6 months. That being said the stores closer to you need to have the space for you.

You can transfer once every six months, but the actual standard for how soon upon hire is highly up to the discretion of your manager and DM (aka nonexistent). I had my first transfer 2 months in, and then transferred again after literally one week at my second store. Meaning there are exceptions to even the 6 month rule. I’m sorry your manager isn’t giving you any grace here, but try writing to your DM with your situation and they may be more accommodating.
