Thinking about moving up to a SSV (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sh3nan1gans_
I’ve had many people tell me I’d be a great fit, I’ve been at Starbucks for a year now, but ive also worked at other coffee shops before and was a supervisor at those. Is it worth it? Do you supervisors enjoy doing it? Is it more stressful? Please share any tips or anything. Because I’ve been thinking about this for a good 4 months now, and it’s something im interested in

Is it worth the money? Depends. I had to transfer stores because none of my baristas were independent enough to get through a close, so I had to play babysitter every night, and do most tasks myself. However at my new store, I walk in and everyone knows what needs to get done, and my life is 10x easier. Personally, I enjoy being a barista, which I get to do a lot less as a shift, so it’s not my favorite, but I don’t think that shift tasks are any ‘harder’ than barista tasks, assuming all is going well on the floor. I would say only be a shift if you prefer the supervising/managing job to being a barista.

I would say it’s worth it if you’re a non drive thru store.

If you’re at a drive thru store though, it’s definitely not worth the extra like $2-3 hourly increase in my opinion.

Definitely way more stressful than being a barista.

I moved up to shift two months ago. I will be honest, yes it is more stressful.
