looks like a normal day at my store!
Any_Target5307 [OP]180 points9m ago
You’re a victim
OfficerEdgarMallory44 points9m ago
You have to do something while at work. What’s the difference between doing dishes for an hour vs working hot bar or drive thu for an hour?
Any_Target5307 [OP]138 points9m ago
For me? The fact that if I wanted to dishwash for an hour I would’ve just applied at a restaurant to wash dishes. I have no issue washing dishes but knowing the shift before me left all of that for one person makes me feel disrespected honestly. We are not a team and I don’t wanna pretend to be a team player in this situation.
jugularvoider47 points9m ago
I mean if done strategically you can get those done in 2-3 loads, shouldn’t take too long.
Edit: if you guys don’t have a dishwashing thing ignore me because I’d hate to handwash all that
s0ycatpuccino35 points9m ago
We have a recurring problem where nobody leaves their station, *any* station, ready for the next person to take over. Dish sink as above, no milk or ice on bar, empty syrups, full trashcans. Yay team.
goddessofwaterpolo12 points9m ago
I’m sorry for the frustration hon. Sometimes the shift before is too busy but if this is a frequent problem they need to manage time better.
wankmasterr_693 points9m ago
Nah dude at my store some leads just don't prioritize BOH and just pull CS bc of peak and breaks, it ain't the CS fault at my store specifically, I just work at a high volume store and we just don't have the staff to function properly/sometimes the lead on shift just doesnt know how to prioritize

meowcat36-10 points9m ago
You do work at a restaurant….
ketchupsnumberonefan90 points9m ago
I would have the far right sink cleaned out then filled with sani water, then start rinsing out dishes and putting them in there. For me that saves a lot of stress and time bc then you can just start doing rounds in the hobart with the pre-cleaned dishes
Any_Target5307 [OP]24 points9m ago
Thanks for this pro tip 🫡
ketchupsnumberonefan11 points9m ago
Anytime 🥲 I work evenings (after noon peak) and am often on CS so I’ve developed a strategy haha
No-Film-16729 points9m ago
this and also organizing by like-containers. it makes it much easier for me and less overwhelming
ketchupsnumberonefan2 points9m ago
Definitely!
CarpeAvium80 points9m ago
this is why when im CS i make sure to spend wayyyy too long on dishes. sure it light fuck up my cycle tasks but at least we will have things for restock lmao
Any_Target5307 [OP]14 points9m ago
Thank you for your service
martinifather49 points9m ago
this looks like the best day ever😭 y’all I love being on cs
TokioHighway4 points9m ago
Same, Im literally so happy when I'm put on cs
Any_Target5307 [OP]-13 points9m ago
I dislike it not because of the job functions but because of the frequency of being taken advantage of regularly.
Magnumxl71128 points9m ago
Personally, I think CS is the most chill of all the positions.
Like you could be sweating on bar, having conversations with every customer on drive, or just washing dishes while listening to music on your phone.
At my store only the veterans get the privilege of CS, I've only gotten to do it once in 6 months
Any_Target5307 [OP]7 points9m ago
I get the sentiment but sweating on bar is the only reason I haven’t quit yet. It’s the best part of the job for me
FrustratingBears3 points9m ago
same! i love CS
when i get put on CS i’m like “thank godddd i get a bit of a break from people” while fixing the things that make customers leave poor reviews (i.e. stock bathrooms, sweep lobby)
but i also have kinda funky opinions because i would MUCH rather do floors/mats than DTO/DTR
luvloping2 points9m ago
I rather scrub the toilet with a toothbrush then be in DTR. CS alll day for me
luvloping2 points9m ago
At my store, I’m always CS because everyone thinks the only position is bar. And no one knows how to do preclose like it’s hard task. I am one of the veterans, I love it and don’t have to anyone if I don’t want to😂
fredforthered0 points9m ago
CS was my respite after dealing with fools in DT. I loved DT hot bar, but if I was having a crap shift, I’d wrangle with some dishes to at least make my anger productive.
martinifather5 points9m ago
at my store we don’t really follow the cs cycle cs just kinda does whatever. I kinda like to be in control of the inner workings of the store while I’m in for the day 🤭 that’s just me tho I can see your point
Buttafly_3602 points9m ago
I can understand that OP💯 but everystore is different wen it comes to CS so I think thats y ppl down voted you but I understand you tho..
Any_Target5307 [OP]3 points9m ago
The same people downvoting are the ones who treat the CS person like their personal servant so I don’t care. My coworkers are mostly assholes who leave dirty work for others regularly. I go out of my way to be respectful for the next shift but rarely get it in return
Buttafly_3602 points9m ago
Ahh, I think me and u are in the same position at work honestly💯💯🙇🏽♀🙇🏽♀ the hand off at 12pm between the SSV is wild and insane🙇🏽♀💯 and then yes being sum1 servant the whole shift or sum..yeah felt tht💯💯
Peace2Theaworld1 points9m ago
I think this can be true sometimes. We won't have a cs all day at our store until some poor soul gets put on at 2:30
Deadrax50239 points9m ago
That’s me everyday I’m basically CS everyday. Morning people don’t care/understand how much we do at night.
Any_Target5307 [OP]9 points9m ago
I’m sorry you deal with this daily. I try to set up regularly for the next shift. You are appreciated even if no one says it often.
Deadrax5023 points9m ago
<3
Comfortable-Plane9444 points9m ago
That’s bs. I’ve worked both opening and closing. It’s a struggle on am to get night set up because of peak.
Deadrax5021 points9m ago
I also work both and as long as everyone’s doing their job it’s quite easy. Especially when night crew doesn’t come until 1
luvloping2 points9m ago
I just wish one day everyone would switch and openers are closers and closers open. And they would have a little more appreciation for the other shift. I have done both. So I understand. The morning people LOVE to bitch about some non sense thing like fruit in a drain, but leave their shift at 1pm on the DOT with nothing done.
bitcoinslut42025 points9m ago
I really don’t mind doing dishes unless it’s like this. I work afternoon & closing and I get so frustrated when the morning people do no dishes before we get there and expect us to spend hours cleaning up after them.
coffee-and-chillll9 points9m ago
Yes!! I’m a barista now, but as a former closing SSV this kinda thing happened way too regularly and just felt like a slap in the face. I started off my SSV days as an opener, I know the deal, and yet I never left my opening shift with a dish pile like that. To me, it’s just not helping the night team at all and tbh the sight of it can be really stress inducing
Nothing has been restocked, line to the door, dropping down to 3 partners total, trashes are full, help is needed on bar, there’s no one to warm food, cold brew isn’t made for tomorrow, no kegs for today, and then the sight of this? Used to drive me crazy as the closer. To me, just don’t even aggressively pile the dishes up like that if you can’t at least do some of them. As an opener, if I saw a pile like that I’d at least get some done
I know peak is wild, but we’re supposed to be a team and that involves doing our best to set up the next shift. Closers restock and prep everything perfectly and work to get the store clean for opening, and if we miss one thing for openers it’s a big deal. But this is the handoff we get? Not really teamwork to me
miniinovaa1 points9m ago
I get what your saying but if a line is out the door when you arrive and you can’t do anything, do you think they’d be able to during peak either? And not that I believe in a close v open mindset, I know most everyone works their hardest, but closers have time after with no customers to set up for the next day, openers have to plan for that while also accommodating customers. Again I’ve been an opener and closer SSV, so I’m not trying to shit on you or your opinion, just staying mine
coffee-and-chillll2 points9m ago
I get what you’re saying but at least at my old store, I do think the morning crew would have had time to at least put a dent in some of the dishes. I’m not expecting all dishes to be done and everything perfect, and yes I know some days/shifts are exceptionally challenging where I would understand a dish pile like this. But it being a regular and repeated occurrence, with absolutely no backups done and nothing cleaned, just isn’t okay to me.
To me, if no dishes can get done I’d think at least some backups or restocking would be done but that wasn’t the case. I don’t like to think of it as openers vs closers, I see it as we’re all a team working together, and I try to be as understanding and accommodating as possible. But when I’d come into close and there’s this mountain of dishes, no restocking/backups done, trashes are past full, and everyone is clocking out so it’s down to literally 3 partners total (including myself) and openers just run out the door without even updating me on where we’re at with everything, I just don’t feel like that’s a team working together.
I don’t really blame the morning team though as much as I blame scheduling not being done properly to have enough partners in the afternoon so that we can actually catch up. Also, the 30 mins after close is nothing if we’re this far behind. 30 mins is basically to do the last cleaning tasks of the night, it doesn’t leave any space to also catch up.
A normal Sunday at my old store involved me coming in at 1pm, the whole morning crew leaving as I clocked in, so now it’s me and 2 baristas for the rest of the day, along with a mountain of dishes, no extra whipped cream/frap roast/mocha/sweet cream, ice bins need to be refilled, several trash runs are needed, floors aren’t done, bathrooms are a mess, cold brew kegs need to be made, warming and bar needs help, and the Sunday SSV count and pull needs to be done. It was like pulling teeth trying to catch up as well as get everything perfectly clean and restocked the way openers expect. It’s a lot for us all, but it’s my personal belief that I have to somehow setup a handoff, and if I can’t do it all I’ll at least make some backups *or* do some dishes
miniinovaa1 points9m ago
Yeah idk. I don’t work at your store or know your coworkers. At my store we all know we tried are hardest for a good handoff cuz it never feels great to give a bad one, so when it is a bad one, it’s okay, it means it was just an extra tough day
Any_Target5307 [OP]4 points9m ago
I agree wholeheartedly
ddebdesdemonaa9 points9m ago
I love dishes LOL
ghostymost27 points9m ago
I don’t have to imagine lol
oftbkk6 points9m ago
tell me your a mid / closer without telling me you’re a mid / closer
Buttafly_3601 points9m ago
Faxx😭💀
starfire036 points9m ago
You mean the mountain of trash I walked into at 2pm for my closing shift regularly?
Side note, when I was the opener or mid SSV on duty garbage didn't pile up. 🤔😒
MrsClaireUnderwood5 points9m ago
Dude, I would love this.
maddogracer1615 points9m ago
Looks like my normal day tbh.
peachiez_5 points9m ago
the morning crew always does this to my store when we closing ppl clock in and it’s the most annoying thing ever, especially when we’re basically still running peak and they’re speeding to get out of the store 😀
Lightheaded_gamer5 points9m ago
*wwii flashback*
poopman164 points9m ago
gimme 15 mins and a 15mg sativa edible and these will be taken care of 😎
JavaWasp4 points9m ago
In real life, everyone should do a small load before they tap out for a ten.
BatWeary4 points9m ago
it’s so infuriating. clock in, get out on CS and see every dish in the store dirty…
but they need backups immediately. and milk. and ice. oh no, trash needs run too…
you grab all the milk and ice so they aren’t bothering me about that, cool. now they’re pestering me because they need white mocha NOW but all the containers are dirty. then i’m getting yelled at by the shift for doing a load of dishes because i’m not personally picking up each crumb left behind in cafe.
i’ll refuse to do post-peak CS. my shifts expect me to do 4 full loads of dishes, a full restock, deep clean bathrooms, cafe/patio slide, and start midday tasks in under 45 minutes max and gripe if i don’t. i’m still on the hunt for a potion that’ll give me 8 arms and supersonic speed.
Any_Target5307 [OP]2 points9m ago
Ugh this!!!! I had to ask for only opening shifts because of this shit. If I ask to not be CS I’m not a team player and if I just go along with it I’m being taken advantage of. Prayers up
TokioHighway1 points9m ago
Sounds like your coworkers are the issue. I've worked plenty of CS shifts post-peak and never had any issues like that
BatWeary1 points9m ago
oh they absolutely are. it didn’t help that a few of our shifts at the time were extremely incompetent & couldn’t run a floor without lashing out on us at least once.
Interesting-Wrap91184 points9m ago
Do people not clean as they go?? Like common what do their homes look like? There is never a time in day there is a dish in my sink
kaynist4 points9m ago
so they decided to just not have a chai rather taking 5 minutes to wash some dishes ??? lmaooo
Any_Target5307 [OP]2 points9m ago
Nothing makes sense here 😭
impasse6024 points9m ago
Why is it so hard for ppl to rinse stuff? Those syrups and stuff are all gunked on there and it makes it all hard and crusty
Any_Target5307 [OP]5 points9m ago
That would make too much sense
Bazzock0414 points9m ago
This is one hour’s worth of dishes at a moderately sized drive-thru 🤪
princesspwrhr3 points9m ago
Throw those pitchers in and grab the ice bucket because you just know all the bars are scraping the bottom for ice. They’re low on cups they’ve been using dome lids for everything for an hour because they’re out of GV flat, there’s 2 whips left in the store and they’ve marked out Oat Milk.
I can name 5-6 mid partners and 3 openers who do this on the regular. It takes about an hour- hour and a half to catch up from their BS. Meanwhile they’re on bar or register acting like they don’t know why others keep accidentally on purpose almost bumping into them.
watched173 points9m ago
They should be doing a small load every thirty min or so. Sorry your partners struggle.
BakerBetty203 points9m ago
Omg literally today. And I finally got a rhythm going, had the middle filled with washed wait to rinse and last ready for sani and they literally filled my sinks with dirty stuff again while I made a batch of coffee and I had to rewash it all 😔
Any_Target5307 [OP]2 points9m ago
I’m so sorry 😭😭
No-Use-13893 points9m ago
i love dishes so i’ll be happy with this, except when bar has to start asking for things because nothing is prepped
yellowsock123 points9m ago
Im not wearing a headset until I clean all the dishes 🫣
SpicyH0tCheeto3 points9m ago
Just another day as closing shift 🤪
absolutefoo3 points9m ago
As an opener/early morning partner I always make sure that left sink is full of fresh water and just throw shit in so that way when peak is over we can just rinse and gooooo
IdLikeToBuyA-Vowel3 points9m ago
Imagine?
Normal_Human_45673 points9m ago
I'd clock right back out again, no excuse for that
DragonTear0322 points9m ago
i dont think you know what a 3 person peak looks like
Any_Target5307 [OP]11 points9m ago
I agree with them only bc it was at least 8 people prior to this photo being taken. Apparently only 1 person was on CS the entire time and they didn’t wash much
Muted_Obligation450114 points9m ago
This shit always happens, 8-10 person peak play and still leave dishes in all 3 sinks dirty nothing made and you gotta play catch up
Wspitsamanda5 points9m ago
this shit ALWAYS HAPPENS the morning at my store gets over scheduled for peak so 7-10 people, and then we come in for the afternoon and find out they didn’t do ANY cleaning tasks, they didn’t do ANY backups, what was the CS doing?? staring at the wall?
Any_Target5307 [OP]3 points9m ago
emphasis on NOTHING MADE!!! They do this shit so often I asked for only opening shifts after this week. I’m tired of it
BatWeary1 points9m ago
tbh i genuinely want to know how this happens. even when we’ve run a 3-4 person play for peak it’s not this bad, but somehow when we have 8-9 people it’s like nothing got done
Normal_Human_45671 points9m ago
Other stores exist, with different levels of peak and different numbers of staff? So of course I don't know what a three person peak is AT YOUR STORE.
They shouldn't have had OP deal with it, is what I'm saying. Swap out and whoever made the mess deals with it
crazycocopuf2 points9m ago
As someone who works at a constantly busy store - seeing the dishes like this means that we are have been slammed since open. If i was put on CS instead of drive bar like every day of my life - i would kiss my shift. Like absolutely i will be in the back away from all the crusty custies.
JEXTZZ2 points9m ago
that’s where i put my headphones in and dig in!
jjd_yo2 points9m ago
This is a literal gold mine. Screw window and bar, let me go do dishes!
rubunny2 points9m ago
I’m sorry I suck at opening have to break down late today 🤠
ThunderPerfect0102 points9m ago
1) I always have the wash prepped and ready to accept dishes so that things can soak. 2) The tea pitchers can be the fastest to put in the hobart because they’re the same size, like goes with like 3) Are you taking apart each pump or just running water through it? I know some people do and other do not. 4) Doing all that in 3 would be pushing it but finishing it 5 is possible 5) I usually just setup an assembly line where A) One set soaks in soap B) Another rinses off C) Loading dishes for the sanitizer D) Sanitizing E) Drying All of this happens at the same time because you can use the ledge on the sink to rinse and load 6) I always try as an opener to have pre close finished for the closers so if necessary they can move right to close
Praxlyn2 points9m ago
I would literally start giggling this is exactly why I love CS so much. I love being in the back twerking my ass to my playlist while getting dishes done 😤
rwwhys2 points9m ago
Oops look at the time, time to clock right back out and go home
g_pvp_32 points9m ago
worst thing ever
Makorra452 points9m ago
One of my coworkers ordered me to do the dishes because he didn’t want to do them himself. I was so angry 😡 I did them anyone because I wanted to be a “team player”. What is up with people giving orders to other coworkers ? I was so pissed off after that and to make matters worse, that guy was ordering me around again! 😡😡😡 the audacity
Any_Target5307 [OP]2 points9m ago
I understand trying to be helpful and a team player but you shouldn’t take that BS. they will continue to expect it time and time again and you will keep getting taken advantage of
Makorra452 points9m ago
You are right! 😡
BrotatoChip042 points9m ago
I can’t even lie; as a former longtime line cook I love CS and especially washing dishes. Anything that gives me a task to do on my own without interacting with anyone, especially customers, I’ll happily do right away.
False-Wolverine-74572 points9m ago
Is that what customer support actually does i’ve been employed for quite a while but I never understood exactly what that role means
Any_Target5307 [OP]3 points9m ago
Yes. CS does dishes/restock & backups/wipe tables & brew coffee. It’s a floating role to help out.
EggForLife691 points9m ago
There is a cycle to CS, and the last item in that cycle is to do a task from the task list. Washing dishes is just one of the many tasks in that list
Responsible_Contest82 points9m ago
i’m usually only on bar but when i’m cs i get those dishes doneeee bro i forget there’s other things i need to do lol
NanobiteAme2 points9m ago
Looks like a normal day at my location.
Jessie16051 points7m ago
Nothing out of the ordinary lol one day or couple times had dishes from the left corner on the black containers filled up on all 3 sinks plus a little extra on a little table that we have to do the pull it took more than hour to clean everything 🥲. Well preferable than being stuck at bar at peak time with just yourself
short_4_furnace1 points8m ago
Every weekend 🥲✌️
psionicillusionist1 points9m ago
I remember this, it was unfortunately completely normal.
rlogranite1 points9m ago
My favorite job actually. If I could do dishes all night, I'd be happy as a pig in sh_t.😁

alannaevy1 points9m ago
I don't have to imagine
Lanna_Marie_1 points9m ago
Am I the only person that washes the dishes as soon as they become dirty? Like I’ll pick it up on my way in the back and just wash them quick and throw them in the sani? I don’t think I’ve ever let them get this bad, and I work at the busiest Starbucks in my province.
dirtychai02181 points9m ago
idk abt y’all but this is a DREAM to me. no customer interaction no headset just vibes and cleaning
stephkousma1 points9m ago
ALWAYS LEAVE HOW YOU WOULD WANT TO COME IN!! 🫶🫶
Sashimiroll161 points9m ago
No….just no…
Sahalio1 points9m ago
I mean I don’t mind as long as I don’t get called to the front like 5 times an hour lol
DragonslayerKal1 points9m ago
This gives me such anxiety man. Every time i have dishes like these when im almost done they either add more or they change the play and move me elsewhere.
FineQueenBean1 points9m ago
Personally, I love doing the dishes! get to hook up my phone and listen to music and vibe. I hate having to do the rest of the CS cycle. 😂 anything that involves me leaving the back.
junglejims43221 points9m ago
why doesn’t your store do dishes throughout peak
aavery991 points9m ago
This is how it was for a little while, and our hobart was broken, so I had to do it all by hand. *All of it*
Kitchen-Island451 points9m ago
looks busy, hate to think of what transpired before you got there that made that mess happen
Swimming-Fee-24451 points9m ago
I am one of those who used to despise CS but now I love it. I can go at my pace, I don’t have people hovering around me asking about their drinks, I can make all the back ups and clean up the back of house. I also love making cold brew and tanks. I will grab a broom and sweep the cafe and then wipe tables and do it all at my own pace. To me it’s a nice little break from cash and warming, or bar during peak. I don’t feel rushed and I know exactly where I am and what needs to be done.
[deleted]1 points9m ago

lil_s0ph1 points9m ago
Pretty standard day for me
SNES1821 points9m ago
Never seen a sink like that because I’ve never worked at a store with enough supplies to not have to wash dishes immediately lol.
ExternalFruit47131 points9m ago
All the time 😪
Venus_Fox181 points9m ago
Honestly, I like doing dishes 😅 it gives me a break to think about life while I burn the skin off my hands with the Hobart water lol
djk11011 points9m ago
Honestly, I loved this. Miss me with making drinks and stocking, I’ll do these dishes all day and be happy.
Vegan_Sweetie1 points9m ago
Dishes are no biggie
hlycml1 points9m ago
Honestly, I love washing dishes! I’d rather to this than deal with crazy, annoying customers!
Odd-Ad-781 points9m ago
Not to mention the keg sitting in middle sink 😭 rip
wankmasterr_691 points9m ago
This just a regular day lmaoo
Torirock101 points9m ago
i had to close with two green beans today and it was so …. seeing dishes from 3 hours ago (that are hand wash only btw) still sitting in the sink when i’ve told them to clean them like a thousand times 😭 like gurl we took the cold bar apart i need the inclusion stand pleas
august4011 points9m ago
i honestly love doing a shit ton of dishes as long as i'm not being rushed
vaeluxe1 points9m ago
Honestly I didn’t mind when the dishes piled up, headphones in, no customers, it twas like peace in hell and I took my sweet time with it
Special-Fee-35581 points9m ago
What I can see is the quality of the photo is cool!
Anon317801 points9m ago
\*cries in 8-hour drive-through shift\*
Actual_Cat_1 points9m ago
this is my every fucking day
cinnamonmarigold1 points9m ago
Looks like **no customers** to me 😍
Buttafly_3601 points9m ago
Literally what I see errytime I clock in at 12pm lol so I'm used to it😂
Decent-Marionberry631 points9m ago
Boy that’s our every day 😀 for some reason AM crew hates having a CS and PM crew has to clean up the mess 🙃
hotcheetomamii1 points9m ago
unpopular opinion: but when i’m on CS, the more dishes the better. i love getting all prep and restock done and going to the back to get away from the chaos and do dishes alone. makes my shift better tbh
[deleted]1 points9m ago
[deleted]
SpicyH0tCheeto1 points9m ago
Just another day as closing shift 🤪
CoffeeDisorder1 points9m ago
Welcome to my life as a closing shift.
Tmj-warrior-19961 points9m ago
I’m surprised when I clock on and that’s not what is in the sink. To be fair though the stores I’ve worked at don’t seem to mind how I do CS. So as long as they have backups and the lobby isn’t disgusting I’ll hangout doing dishes. If backups are needed I’ll wash those first.
th3_thing1 points9m ago
The way I look at that is, either I'm getting yelled at by a customer or I get to wear one headphone and scrub dishes in peace and the sound of own tunes
missgurll0 points9m ago
they already know to put me there.
i’d eat those dishes up , purr .
0x52and1x520 points9m ago
Hobart makes light work of this
DoJoToCo0 points9m ago
I’d happily do it
mrbubblegxm0 points9m ago
tbh this is def rough but u can make it work tbh.
iCeleste0 points9m ago
Ngl I'd be thrilled lol I'm pretty good at being quick and efficient with dishes, so it would only take me maybe 45minutes -1 hour but that's an hour where I just get to vibe by myself lol
jackthaniel69-1 points9m ago
Love that (no sarcasm)
sweatshirtsweatpants-1 points9m ago
I would love to be put on CS ! It’s better than interacting with customers !
Elleven_-1 points9m ago
oh i love doing dishes. the hobart is soooo efficient and when i get put on breakdown during closes i get to just stay in the back and not talk to any customers and only come out to make backups or restock or grab more dishes for breakdown. honestly the easiest job during nights, i ask to get put there
No_Ad_349-1 points9m ago
I’d rather do that than deal with customers.
Tannibis-1 points9m ago
If you keep up/stay on your cycle dishes shouldn’t pile up like that or your trash. Coming from a high volume store, cycles are still important no matter what. Make sure the next person to taking over CS doesn’t have to fall behind their cycle as soonest they begin CS.
Our mission is to provide everyone with access to large- scale community websites for the good of humanity. Without ads, without tracking, without greed.
