I finally understand other posts in here (self.starbucksbaristas)

Some of y’all are so dedicated to saying other people are wrong/complaining about something no matter the situation. I could literally post “my SM held me at gunpoint to do tasks before I clocked in” and some of y’all would be like “well that’s just apart of the job! You shouldn’t expect your SM to be nice or let you be paid. Get a different job if it’s that deep”.
Does Starbucks pay y’all to defend them outside of work?

Those are corporate partners that Starbucks hires to work from home and covertly gaslight us and spread company propaganda by pretending to be baristas.

For some people there is just no limit. They will always robotically say "it's your job". It's wild. There is literally no boundary for them. The company could increase our workload 300% without increasing pay, "hurr durr it's your job".

This also applies to abuse from customers. I've had coworkers tell me it's "my job" to take abuse from customers without breaking Starbucks character or ever standing up for myself/dignity. The worst part is I expect the company to think that, but I don't expect coworkers, who are subject to the same abuse, to say that.

I can't figure out if they're just intellectually lazy or it's just easier to side with the party they rightly perceive having all the money and power. Probably the former because to believe the latter means you've done some sort of analysis and introspection.

Greetings,

This is a genuine question, not an attack on you, but... what exactly is the aim here? The hypothetical you used is nowhere near true, and you have not really given any specific examples of what you are speaking against. So, I am kind of lost here.

Cheers,

I posted earlier about overflowing dishes at my store that were left piling up for me as CS and in general I see people talking about stuff that happens to them at work and some people are ALWAYS finding something to nitpick and blame on us for disliking it. It’s very dramatic and unnecessary. We all come here to vent or ask questions and I’m all for hearing others opinions (that’s why I post here) but I’m not sure why people get blamed or attacked for feeling a certain way.

For real! Like let me vent damn! We come here to vent and support/validate eachother

I saw your dishes post and I agreed with you, people’s responses were way over the top and a good shift should be able to run store operations smoothly and dont leave the CS position feeling so overwhelmed and unsupported. I’d be annoyed too, its not a crime to complain about your job

Thank you!

Amen. If you can't figure out how to run a shift, step down and let somebody else more competent do it.

Greetings,

Ahhhh, okay, now I understand better. To be frank with you, I am kind of surprised you can get with leaving dirty dishes overnight at your store. At my store (B&N, so maybe it is quite different standards?), missing out on any small closing task (without giving a reason) can get get you talked to during your next shift about it; literally nobody at my store is brave enough to leave dirty dishes for the opener (that would be a pretty severe reprimanding, I imagine). If it were *clean* dishes that are on the dry mat overnight not put up, that is one thing (still a no-go, but tolerable).

I try not to let anything get to me on the job, but I think I would be off to a very bad start (in my head) if I ever clocked into an opening shift with those looming over me. Sorry about that, mate.😢

Cheers,

It was a mid shift but it was so frustrating because there was a CS person before me yet absolutely nothing was done. No trash pull, no backups, no dishes. Just left for me 🙃

Greetings,

>a CS person before me yet absolutely nothing was done. No trash pull, no backups, no dishes.

How did that even happen 😵? Was there is explanation, or was is just "good luck, break a leg"?

just a few weeks ago i got in a tiff on here with someone who essentially said their coworkers don’t deserve to be paid a living wage because
they’re “lazy” and “complain too much”. its pretty prevalent on here, i can only assume it comes from poor sailors being lured to their doom by the siren’s song 🤣🤷‍♀️
