I used to be a social person but after years of working at Starbucks, Ive noticed my social battery
runs out so fast. Or I have no desire to go out to social events because I've already socialized SO much throughout the day. Anyone else feel the same???

I kind of the opposite, I used to work in healthcare and would have to deal with nasty patients from them looking at me and inquiring about my financials (“oh you must make bank…”) to my marital status “oh honey, you don’t need school. That’ll make your boyfriend leave you if you make him wait too long”, and also just down right sexual harassment “Your husbands a lucky man, when you leave him come find me, I’ll give it to you all night long”. I actually like that I can have a normal conversation 90% of the time, my regular even gave me a hug when I saw her, it was nice to have a connection that wasn’t supported by weird shit. Now that being said, I’m typically quiet because healthcare was very picky about what/how you could talk, so it’s hard to get me to talk, but I don’t mind it.

Absolutely. I feel bad for my husband honestly because when I come home, I desperately need absolute silence from the overstimulation all day.

I'm the opposite. I prattle on about things that happened at work, but like I've gotta leave a 20min voice-mail in 2mins

for me it depends, i usually close and we dont have a drive thru so we dont get a ton of customers lol but we do get a huge rush of kids because of a nearby middle school. so if that day its super busy i usually get home as fast as i can lol but other than that i don’t mind socializing after work

Overstimulation is a bitch. Part of burnout is just growing pains, but most of it is the high demands of an ungrateful corporation. I generally value my private time more than I ever recall doing before, even though I left the barista lyfe over a year ago. But you're definitely not alone.

I used to work at starbs in the morning and serve tables at night. It was soooo exhausting to overstimulate on a daily basis. I’ve eventually went back to working one job because it was affecting me so bad .
