What I like to do is if I’m at food, I will take their order while bringing the food back to dto or warming up items and put it into the system (I make sure to only do 1 at a time so I don’t forget their order). If a car comes up while I’m taking payment or handing out drinks, I tell them to give me a moment and I get back to them when I get the car at the window situated. This has worked for me, but you’ll probably find your own flow!

As an SM that is unacceptable they are not protecting your training or experience. But there are a few ways to do it. You can greet a customer wile taking payment. Then enter the drink before finishing taking payment. Or you can’t let the stack fill up. Then you take one order slide to the window hand out the drinks and repeat.
