Hi guys, so yesterday I was making a tea and before I could put the lid on, my coworker brushed against me accidentally and the hot water literally fell on my entire hand. I told my ASM who was there, she out some burn relief on it from the first aid kit and put gauze on it… an incident report wasn’t filed. What should I do? I’m going to the ER tmm since it’s still very bothersome and irritated!

I mean, go to the Er if you want..it would be way easier to get more burn cream and take an anti inflammatory. I feel like the ER won’t be able to do anything other than what’s been done. Definitely get an incident report filed.

So sorry, that looks painful!

I would definitely get an incident report filed (you don’t need an ASM or SSV, there’s a phone number you call for injury reporting)

As far as treatment, I would suggest going to your primary care doctor or an urgent care center over the ER. Unless there’s extreme blistering or signs of infection, they’ll likely just prescribe a burn cream and mild pain medicine, which isn’t really an “emergency” (nevermind the ER bill that would come with it!)

But getting the incident report filed is important because you should be covered under workers comp for any medical care (such as burn gel or a drs visit) you may need from this, as it’s a workplace injury!

yeah don’t go to the er, they’re always filled with ppl with not life threatening injuries and you’ll be waiting longer and in more pain than you’d normally like. i know this from a lot of experience lol

It doesn’t look like a bad burn. Just put more burn cream. I got a bacon grease blister this week and burn cream has already healed it pretty much

I got a blistering burn from a chocolate croissant 2 and a half weeks ago and I still have one scab left to fall off. It’s annoying how many things can burn us in like a 5 ft radius.

File an incident report ASAP and call Sedgwick if you’re in the US. You have either 24 or 48 hours iirc to contact them. I’d swing by your work before the doctor just in case Sedgwick needs you to go somewhere specific. You likely don’t need the ER (you’d already be there if it was serious enough) but a clinic can get you burn cream and manage the pain. Hope you feel better soon.

you definitely want to file an incident report so you will be covered if you choose to seek medical care, and don’t cover burns. they need to breathe, apply burn gel and uncover your hand, pls don’t continue working with a fresh burn, it’s an open wound

Write an incident report if you’re going to see a doctor about it. If it’s not blistering, a doctor will tell you to take ibuprofen if it’s hurting that bad. If it’s blistering, they’ll tell you not to pick at them and to cover it when if becomes an open wound. If you can wait until tomorrow, you don’t need an ER or to pay for an ER. ERs are intended for injuries or illnesses that are immediately threatening your life.
