As often as you need them. The benefit of working a part time job is that it is somewhat flexible. Of course, there's always potential that the sm will deny your time off but I've never had that issue because I've always done it like 2 months in advance.

Depends on your needs!
I am full time now, but when I was part time I used to work Fri/Sat/Sun 8 hours so that during the week I could go to school. I was getting my minimum of 20 hours a week, plus some wiggle room if I got sick etc, and it worked out GREAT for my schedule. I loved it.
Think about what you need first then work it in.
