Why do people not understand that their personal cups need to be clean??? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Like I will still give people their discount but I am not going to contaminate where we make drinks just because you forgot your cup in your car and “its just coffee/tea”. They always get so miffed 🙃🙃🙃.

But also like . . . What do they expect us to do with that? Wash it? Use it with the bacteria that's definitely grown in there from being in a car? It's so weird to me.

Our store gets a crazy number of people, usually men who are clearly on their way to and from work, who show up with a dirty cup and say “in this cup, but I need you to take it to the back and wash it first is all.” One told me he always has Starbucks wash it for him??? That’s not allowed, my dude, and I will not be washing your cup.

Lol we have to hold hands thru ordering, we have to ask "Iced, hot, what size etc" and now dish washing for them too? Lol like wash ur own cups. The amount of babying we have to do with whole grown ass adults is insanity

This is why I hate personal cups. I asked a customer to put their personal cup in a trenta cup (we don't have the ceramic mugs), so no one would have to touch it and contaminate everything. And then the person on bar took it out of the trenta cup. 🙄

My question is, how come we have to use those ceramic cups, if the cups are supposed to be clean? "To protect partners". Yet we accept physical money, who knows where it's been and never gets washed?

The cups are going directly by the bar, the person handling the cup is also making drinks. You should be washing your hands after handling money, before you handle drinks or food. Its not just to protect partners, but other customers as well. With the personal cup going into the ceramic cup, the barista doesn't actually have to touch the cup so there's less risk of contamination.

bacteria from dirty cups lol sometimes people try to hand stuff that still have liquid — plus they have drank from it already
