Leave of absence question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mrcupcake18
So I haven’t been able to get a straight answer and the partner hub is a bit confusing. So I haven’t been doing very well mentally and to be honest it’s getting very concerning. I want to look into a leave of absence but idk how that works, is it paid and if so how much etc. Also would I even be eligible for something like this since it is mental health related? Because like I’m not trying to check myself into a facility or anything but my mental health has gotten severely bad that I can’t even do the basic of things at work. So I want to possibly take a leave so I can do all the things I need to to get my mind right (schedule more therapy sessions, discuss different med options, self care and all that). Any help or direction would be appreciated.

there are no requirements for leaves or absences!! mental health leave is totally valid and ur SM should be supportive. the way starbucks does LOAs is through a 3rd party called sedgwick. id let ur SM know about it but u don’t need their approval! first you’d use all the sick and vacation pay u have and then essentially it’s an unpayed leave.

Starbucks allows for one personal leave that lasts 30 days, every 3 years. So it would fall under that! File with Sedgwick and they send it through very quick for DM/SM approval
