Will shoe sleeves break the dresscode? (i.redd.it)
submitted by aBriocheBun

Idk but they def breakin a fashion code
aBriocheBun [OP] 154 points 9m ago
🤣 I was thinking these would be great for slip-prevention and shoe protection.

SM here and I see comments about not wearing non-slip shoes. Do you and your boss a favor and wear them. A recent example was this nice girl that was picking up quickly. She nailed her first few days closing with me but on the fourth day she came back after she left to get some water. I always wait till my crew is gone to mop for the very reason of people not wearing non-slip shoes. This new girl promptly wiped out before I could stop her. She was ok but I felt bad. On the incident report, one of the questions are “was the employee wearing slip resistant shoes?”, and I had to check no. I don’t want you to get hurt and definitely don’t want you to get screwed. Wear non-slip shoes please.
lizchesley 68 points 9m ago
a store manager who keeps tabs on new baristas and checks where they’ve blade progress, mops after everyone has left to protect them, AND doesn’t want partners to get screwed??? didn’t know those existed omfg-
dabsncats 59 points 9m ago
you’re an SM and you… mop the store… after your team has left?????
Mhill0823 28 points 9m ago
Safe to say we’d all like to work for you!

Why are most people at sbux so against having a dedicated nonslip, sturdy pair of shoes for work 💀 no one is looking at your feet they don’t have to be cute. Seems a lot easier than putting rubber socks over your shoes…
aBriocheBun [OP] 96 points 9m ago
I have a bad arch and need special shoes but those aren’t in black. A new pair of shoes for my feet in black would be in the $100 range.
rtsneedshelp 53 points 9m ago
This is a valid reason, most of the shoe comments are not lol If it’s a medical thing, I would ask your manager if you can contact Sedgwick for an accommodation (in this case it’s technically an “exception” but yeah) They may be willing to overlook it.
aBriocheBun [OP] 29 points 9m ago
Thanks! Yeah I’ll have to ask. I hope I don’t have to pay to get my feet verified to be ‘officially over pronated.’ I also hope they think its just a regular pair of rubber shoes 🤣
Malachite_Migranes 12 points 9m ago
Same here! I get custom orthotics but I like your idea. If I were to spill coffee on my feet, my orthotics would be ruined.
aBriocheBun [OP] 9 points 9m ago
might I ask what brand of custom orthotics you use? I’ve heard great things about brooks addictions and new balance running shoes but a hiking boot for the winter would be nice..
Malachite_Migranes 7 points 9m ago
I get them from a store called Roadrunner Sports.
redbushwhacker 11 points 9m ago
Honestly, invest the money. Don't scrimp when it comes to your feet. And by all means, wear nonslip shoes! Even if you don't have to, be responsible. You may go years without a slip and fall, but all it takes is one unseen ice cube and you're horizontal, pogo sticking on one arm and screwing up your shoulder. Still hurts 5 years later, and that was after physical therapy.
Having to go through workers comp is a pain, but the real pain is the pain you'll quite possibly have the rest of your life
Wear non slips!
hollsberry 4 points 9m ago
They changed the dress code this month allowing white shoes! I’m not sure if that info helps, though.
aBriocheBun [OP] 2 points 9m ago
that is interesting!

My boots are in brown
Socko-The-Sock 3 points 9m ago
seriously like they make nonslips that just look like regular shoes too and not like rejected dad shoes. my pair got torn up in six months tho so i guess ymmv the brand
proletarithot 2 points 9m ago
Honestly even a pair of shoes solely for work. Some of y’all come to work fresh from rampaging a corn maze after a hurricane in the Gobi desert.

Shoes aren’t cheap. Starbucks could offer a better program than cashews for crews

Does your manager actually care about your shoe color? Plenty of my coworkers violate that aspect of the dress code every day. The only time my managers have cared is when people don't wear nonslip shoes, because that's a safety hazard.
clouds183 32 points 9m ago
nonslip shoes aren’t required
ardentAmbivalence 6 points 9m ago
Yea, my boss just requires them at our store though bc we no longer have our non-slip mats, I probably should have said that.
fuckingveganshark 6 points 9m ago
i know the reason you’re getting downvoted is because that’s technically not true but it’s just ironic because my trainer said the exact same thing when i asked her about it 💀
dazedandconfusedhere 77 points 9m ago
The dress code actually doesn’t require nonslip, and the partner guide only recommends it - it’s absolutely true that nonslip isn’t required.

Water resistant shoes ARE required though!
fuckingveganshark 8 points 9m ago
thanks for the clarification!

The shoe color code changed about a month ago. Shoes can be any color now
ezranilla 21 points 9m ago
I work in medical and have used those for non-slip and they tear through the bottom in a couple months. I would buy non slip shoes bc you will have to reply those covers quickly
aBriocheBun [OP] 4 points 9m ago
thanks for the tip. It’s still great to have the shoe itself protected from spills.
ezranilla 7 points 9m ago
I would recommend shoes you can wipe off. they make $1 and similar that you can wipe off. You will likely spend more money replacing shoe covers over time than buying slip resistant waterproof shoes. Actual slip resistant shoes will be better at preventing falls than shoe covers.

wow neat! Thank you these will be of help to the community. I unfortunately cannot wear these as I need special orthodontic shoes. Thus the reason for my post.
ezranilla 3 points 9m ago
gotcha gotcha. in that case, I would recommend ordering several pairs of the shoe covers and wearing them down until they are wrecked (or until they're no longer providing traction). If you find a good pair that doesn't wear down, I would love to know where you find them.

the less you take them on and off, the longer they will last. So if they can live on your work shoes, that would be good

these the shoes the merry men were wearing in shrek

Crocs on the clock, the nonslip crocs with no holes, are my holy grail work shoe. They’re more durable than my bean boots and docs, and a lot more comfortable. The crocs are definitely ugly, though, and some SMs might not like them because of the old dress code from before 2020 that said no crocs. They’re nonslip, machine washable and dryable, they’re super shock absorbent, and stay pretty clean.
mayor-em 1 points 9m ago
I really want to wear the bistro crocs but was told no, super makes me sad

Shoes for Crews - my SM recommended them. Comfortable, non-slip, affordable and meets dress code. ShoesForCrews[dot]com

Please hear me .. INVEST IN GOOD SHOES. Later in life what you do to you body now matters.
minusmartin 4 points 9m ago
i’d smack ya with the “what are thooooooose” at least once EVERY shift i worked with you, until one of us quit. then periodically text you “remember that time…” until we lost out numbers and went on with our lives.
softneedle 4 points 9m ago
Get the non slip crocs, the only shoes that are comfortable and have lasted years
Kryrieonn 4 points 9m ago
I wear no slip covers with my ultra boost for the past year. No one has said anything to me about it. Honestly saved my feet standing around.
aBriocheBun [OP] 2 points 9m ago
wow neat, thanks!
Kryrieonn 2 points 9m ago
I'm not sure if those have deep enough non slip threads but if you want to try something different, I use the ones from "shoesforcrews" !
aBriocheBun [OP] 1 points 9m ago
thank youu!!!
rascal-111 4 points 9m ago
these look like fun little socks

i wonder if u could wear em to work like socks w no shoes in em 😵‍💫
aBriocheBun [OP] 3 points 9m ago
LOL
Hazel_is_Trans 3 points 9m ago
If these are in dresscode I'll pick them up because coffee
Xx_alittlelamb_xX 3 points 9m ago
I bought a cheaper pair of slip on docs for work since they’re non-slip and can take a beating without looking like trash. Invest in one good pair of leather, waterproof non slip boots and you’ll be set.
dramaticcringelord 3 points 9m ago
People wear vans at my store I think you’ll be good. The Walmart near me has some cute knock off dr martens that are nonslip if you like those kind of shoes (:
aBriocheBun [OP] 2 points 9m ago
thank you : )

I haven’t seen these since I worked my first fast food job at 17 😂😭
CobaltLemon 2 points 9m ago
Okay but with the amount of milk I get on my shoes.....
Tryocon 2 points 9m ago
Invest in nonslips
There's plenty of times slippery things spill and even with appropriate shoes I still find myself sliding every day.
Be safe partners <3
mrcupcake18 2 points 9m ago
What kind of shoes are these??? I want to look into them, they look strange in a good way 😱
aBriocheBun [OP] 3 points 9m ago
They are slip-resistant shoe sleeves that are worn over regular shoes to prevent water-logging.
mrcupcake18 2 points 9m ago
What?! Omg do you have a link? Or a name so I can look it up?

Imagine rocking shoe condoms couldn’t be me
inkoowoo 1 points 9m ago
They won’t as long as they’re in the right color and waterproof, but I would be aware that they wear a lot faster than a pair of non-slip shoes would. Better than nothing though! I would go for it and make the investment once you feel more comfortable buying the shoes you need for yourself. Just to be safe though it wouldn’t hurt to message your SM just so that they’re aware of why it’s not as easy for you to just get a new pair of shoes for work!
Gameb0i6 1 points 9m ago
Why would anyone wear these ugly ass things.
Shiro-kuron 1 points 9m ago
Feet condoms
copicking 1 points 9m ago
Bruh just bite the bullet and invest in non slip shoes
EliMinivan -1 points 9m ago
Just get a cheap pair of new balances
