Coffee Pairing for Promotion to SSV (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I informed my manager that I was interested in becoming a shift and was just told on Tuesday that interviews were occurring this week. I was also just informed today that I would have to do a coffee pairing for our DM and have been at a loss as to what I want to use. I was thinking about using our Pike since it is the coffee I am most knowledgeable in but is that too generic? I was thinking of pairing it with an almond joy so that the almond and chocolate can run smoothly with the flavors of the pike. thoughts? Any helpful info for the interview is appreciated too!

I did candy for my assessment too! I did espresso roast and a snickers bar and my DM loved it. Apparently most people pair with a treat we already sell in store so she considered the chocolate bar an outside the box idea. If Pike is what you’re most knowledgeable go for it! Your DM may ask you to talk about a little about why you like it and why you chose your pairing. Good luck to you!!

Do you mean an Almond Joy candy bar? You should choose something from in the store.
For mine, I chose cold brew and a lime coco bar. I chose the CB prolly for the same reason you’re choosing Pike, but it takes no prep. I hadn’t had the lime bar before, so I said some bs about trying new experiences together. The two were an incredible pairing, though!
