The thing that will probably drive me to quit is the MOAP system. (self.starbucksbaristas)

My friends, we all know the struggle is real.

It isn’t even the MOAP system itself, but the customers who cannot stop screaming about their order not being ready.

The folks who have an attitude at 7am when they literally placed their order 64 seconds ago.

It is exhausting when folks won’t even READ that there is a wait time on their order.

And, we can’t really even ask folks to wait even a single minute (especially when they come through the Drive-Thru) because these folks -cannot- -even- -handle- being asked to wait.

Please don’t ask me to not hate on the customers—I do my best daily. But there is only so much we should be required to take.

We really need MOAP or SBUX as a whole to step up the signage and the in-app communication game, or just—something!

It is exhausting. So many of our customers do not understand that we are not a fast-food restaurant! Our order system is not Taco Bell, Chick-FIl-A or McDonalds—you do not have to be here for us to start your order! We are already working!

In summary, the hardest part about The Mobile Order And Pay system is the customers who come too soon! If they did what they were supposed to be doing then ninety percent of the time things would be so much easier.

I’m just banging my head on the wall, here. I wish we had a better set of policies and procedures for MOAP systems when dealing with Drive-Thru stores.

Very true! I try to lecture them “nicely” when they come to the window and tell them that if they wanna show up at the DT upon placing the order, then they might as well just fucking place their order at the drive thru and then I walk away before they can say anything.

You're so right. The MOP can get so overwhelming. My store consistently gets anywhere from 50-100 an hour during peak. It's physically impossible to complete all of those drinks in a timely manner once you factor in cafe and drive stuff, and that's even with up to 5 people on bar

We aren't a fast food restaurant but the require a drive time of under 40 seconds ...

I personally think the problem is the way MOAP is advertised. It’s advertised as “skip the line” almost everywhere… which leads MOAP customers to think they LITERALLY don’t have to wait, which is of course not true. We make the orders in the order in which they are received, so they are queuing just the same as everyone else.

EXACTLY. It’s like we have them lined up as metered traffic getting onto a highway, and then people who don’t wait are figuratively driving through the breakdown lane, skipping the meter light and then trying to dive into highway traffic.

Gyugh!

I hate when customers say things like “well I was here before them”… thats not how it works here!
