sooo they just want steamed milk? lmao
Zerokamour-20 points9m ago
One comes with whip and both comes with vanilla I believe.
firepaper41 points9m ago
No more vanilla since about two years
Camellia_Sins7 points9m ago
I think they took the vanilla out of the recipe to simplify it.
Remarkable-Debate897 [OP]79 points9m ago
also when they came in they said they wanted two hot chocolates just not as much mocha but like you can customize it in the app??
emileeavi27 points9m ago
Were they older ? Or maybe not tech savvy lol
JustATrailsFan65 points9m ago
Greetings,
That, my friend, is because it really *is* the case that people generally have no idea what they are ordering. They just press buttons, hope for the best, and rely on that sweet remake service when they want it.
Cheers, co is
Camellia_Sins8 points9m ago
They just press buttons is so real. I once waited to make a drink because it was iced espresso, no ice, upside down, with foam. When they came in I basically went down the sticker, explaining the item and asking what they wanted, and when we got to my last question "so what did you mean by upsidedown, just foam first then the shots?" She said "no, that sounds awful, I didn't know what it meant, I just pressed the button so it was more customized "
JustATrailsFan4 points9m ago
Greetings,
🤦♂️That is the customer base alright. When in doubt, pretend you know and order it anyway, not ask any questions beforehand.
Cheers, co is
Queerguy2454 points9m ago
Had a lady in drive today, “can I get one hot chocolate?” “Sure anything else?” “And one mocha but no espresso” “alright so two hot chocolates anything else?” “THATS NOT WHAT I WANTED” 🙄
RobotProphetWrites41 points9m ago
A lot of customers who aren't familiar with Starbucks (or coffee in general) think "mocha" means "coffee." So they probably thought the hot chocolates came with coffee??? That makes sense to me but who knows why people think the way they do.
horriblyIndecisive24 points9m ago
The way i rationalize this is that sometimes mocha does inply some caffeine like when they order a venti mocha. They know its "coffee" or when they want a chocolate cookie crumble but with coffee so the barista changes it to a "mocha cookie crumble". So when they hear that hot chocolates have mocha they dont know its not the same thing and probably wonder why its not just called chocolate sauce (i wonder why its not chocolate sauce too but maybe because it doesn't contain milk?? Idk)
It_is_Katy5 points9m ago
Yeah it's really not the customers' fault in this case. Like they're trying to make a reasonable assumption based off of the confusing-ass information Starbucks has given them.

We had someone like that today who ordered a mocha frap with no mocha. When she came in and we asked her about it she was really confused
Affectionate_Guava718 points9m ago
So a coffee frap?
dnims245 points9m ago
Unfortunately I was working drive bar so I didn’t get to hear what she actually wanted/got at the end. I’ll try to ask my partners today
gabsh151515 points9m ago
mocha is technically coffee, it's just that starbucks uses it as "chocolate" 🫠 also iirc starbucks used to have a powder mix for hot chocolate
jeonzelink7 points9m ago
Wish i could upvote this a million times because not a lot of people are understanding in this comment section.

so.....hot milk? what..
zedazeni12 points9m ago
I’ve seen something similar a few times. I think they find it easier to subtract what they don’t want in the app than figure out how to build up what they do want.
politelymalicious9 points9m ago
i went to the app, went to hot drinks, right under hot chocolate is steamed milk???
Lordofjones8 points9m ago
I got this once so I waited till they came in and when I was like so you want no mocha in the hot chocolate and she was like yeah… as if I was dumb so I asked again so you just want steamed milk? And she blankly stares at me and waits a good minute and says no I want pumpkin. Wtf?
missthemac8 points9m ago
Why do people think mocha = coffee :’) it’s literally chocolate babes
jeonzelink14 points9m ago
Technically mocha itself means espresso and chocolate so that’s where people get confused. You just have to explain to them that starbucks mocha sauce itself is just chocolate.
horriblyIndecisive13 points9m ago
Probably because when they order a mocha its a drink with coffee. Or when they ask for a mocha cookie crumble/mocha frap it has coffee. It makes sense there would be confusion if u dont work with coffee.
seasteed4 points9m ago
Also, many parents who actively try to not feed their children caffeine order like this to make sure it's plain chocolate without the coffee component that is associated with the word mocha
Starbucks-sm4 points9m ago
Only at Starbucks is "Mocha" just a flavor and "Breve" just a milk. Mocha and Breve have both been espresso drinks for generations.
We can't just decide Cat now means Dog and not expect those in the know not to get upset or think we're stupid.
Queerguy24-4 points9m ago
I mean the mocha sauce does have a slight coffee taste to it
urlessies3 points9m ago
there’s no coffee in it though
geekgurl814 points9m ago
So…steamed milk with whip? Okey dokey
Camellia_Sins3 points9m ago
Is anyone else getting a bunch of "strawberries and creme Frappuccino, no strawberry puree" and then having people ask why it doesn't taste like strawberries. Like. Bro. You were in the app. Did you see any other strawberry ingredients??
Lasagan2 points9m ago
By the end of my time at sbux I would give these people exactly what they asked for. Enjoy your steamed milk with whipped cream! It's the only way to make them learn.
SNES1822 points9m ago
Give them hot milk
Educational_Fly_6912 points9m ago
i’ve had many people tell me that mocha is different than chocolate and mocha means it has coffee in it. 🙄
jeonzelink4 points9m ago
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. The term mocha means espresso + chocolate. So yes, technically it is coffee. But starbucks markets their mocha sauce as chocolate by itself. So a lot of people get confused when they’re ordering a hot chocolate to see it have “mocha sauce” in it because they think it has coffee (even though it doesn’t, it’s just chocolate. This is only at starbucks). I hope this makes sense.
darkwolf5232 points9m ago
So streamer
Vegan_Sweetie2 points9m ago
So… a steamer…
Jadenvicious11 points9m ago
Cup of steamed milk it is.
chumberchive1 points9m ago
I have a feeling they think ‘no mocha’ means no coffee… maybe they thought they were making sure they weren’t getting coffee or something but i don’t know people are silly
Chromosomes231 points9m ago
Someone at my store orders a hot chocolate add espresso shots, I’ve tried to explain and they think it’s different
Inevitable_Emu_2211 points9m ago
I had someone do this once thinking mocha was coffee
IdLikeToBuyA-Vowel1 points9m ago
I’d like a hot chocolate but hold the drink
Calm_Preference62090 points9m ago
