store manager told me i can't transfer?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Rcently signed a lease and gave my store manager a heads up 2 weeks in advance that I want to transfer since our store will now be an hour commute. Today he tells me," Thank you for the early notice" and rolled his eyes before proceeding to say," You know i dont have to approve your transfer". Can he do this? i have a legitimate excuse. I told him im not commuting an hour for work.

Yeah they can deny it. Handbook says you should have talked to your SM at least 60 days before transferring. They need to make sure your transfer will fit the needs of the business before it happens. Two weeks is probably not enough time especially since your SM probably might have the schedule ready for the next 2 weeks.
You can always talk to your DM about it. Maybe tell them it’s an emergency so they can expedite it. In the end it’s up to them when and if they can transfer you. They’re the ones that give the final sign off on it.

this is why we do our research before making decisions... transfers require two MONTHS notice, not two weeks.
