I got sent home early a little while ago by my SSV (2hrs early) bc a green bean showed up 3 hours before their shift and wanted to get on the floor. I wasn't asked if I wanted to leave, I was told to go home. Normally, id love to leave early but with our hours constantly being cut and having bills to pay, I was pissed. Am I in the wrong? Is that allowed??

uh what? If somebody showed up 3 hours before their shift and we didn’t need their help, I’m telling them to go home. Or you can sit in the cafe and wait if you really want to. I’m assuming they want to get the green bean experience and that’s why they allowed them to clock in, but still not right

Ethics and compliance are your friend here and all questionable situations. They are there for such and they never get annoyed or unwilling to help. Call them asap. But fyi, there’s little they can do help if you do so anonymously.

fun fact: they can *ask* you to come in early, leave early, stay late, or come in late. but you never *have* to do it. you're entitled to your scheduled hours!
this is why we always go over on labor for holidays -- everyone refuses an early cut because of time-and-a-half pay.

I’ve been told by shifts that “scheduled hours are never guaranteed “ and that we could all be sent home at any point no matter the hours left in shift. Is this false!?

They can send make you go home early if they don't feel like your needed.

They can't make you stay late but they can make you leave early. Even if you're scheduled until for say 2 you shift can make you leave at 1.
