Fulfilling orders for another location (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by coffee-and-chillll
I’m a rehire and a little confused what should be done when making drinks for someone who accidentally ordered to a different location. On my first day, I was instructed me to use “right now recovery” to ring in each drink for the order that we needed for the bar partner to know what to make since we didn’t have the order because it went to another location. Also I used the customer’s app receipt to make sure they weren’t just trying to get free drinks.

Is this what I should do in the future if making an order for someone who ordered to another store location? I wanted to check because I know “right now recovery” should only be used sparingly, and I’m wondering what situations are appropriate for it to be used?

Thanks y’all :)

That’s what we do at my store, yep! If they’re not willing/able to go to the correct store to pick it up, we’ll either push it through the system as a right-now recovery so they’re not paying twice for one drink, since SBUX already got their money from the mobile order. We push it through the system like that to still account for the labor for making the drinks, and so the baristas on bar know what to make in the first place!

Awesome, thank you so much. I just wanted to make sure I’m doing things right, I appreciate your help!

Yes . Also I let a shift know that I am doing right now recovery . Just to be on the safe side

Thank you :) I’ll definitely do that too from now on

Depends on how I’m feeling if I have time I can do it, if not I just tell them the direction of the store and apologize (if they ask I simply tell them it’s gonna take a min and they have to wait like everyone who orders in cafe)

at my store baristas aren’t allowed to use the rnr button, so we are told to get a ssv to use it.

Really? Dang, I’m so confused about the right now recovery feature and it’s like every person I talk to has a different understanding of it

Another question: At my previous store, we had an ASM who insisted that we never, ever, under any circumstances use the right now recovery button. If someone came through with a mistake drink or order placed to the wrong store, we were told to send the ticket through and void at the window.
This always felt sketchy to me. Anyone else told to do this ?

My first store did this. Im not sure of the exact reasoning other than trying to avoid getting in trouble for too many right now recoveries. Does corporate get on management for too many?

I don’t understand why some partners act like it’s illegal to use “right now recovery” lol. It makes me think maybe the use of it is really closely tracked? Idk, but if it’s a large order we have to use it for the stickers to print and the bar partner to know what needs to be made. Did your ASM send the ticket through using the drive thru register?

I was told we can make 2 or 3 drinks but if the order would come to $30 we wouldn't be able too because the register differences

Say u will allow it only once and that’s it.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 3 points 9m ago
I definitely will lol, I’m down for helping and giving customers their order once if they ordered to the wrong location but it definitely shouldn’t be a repeated occurrence
Necessary_Low939 1 points 9m ago
We def have some repeated occurrence that we just tell them it’s not here. They definitely can walk to it because I’m in nyc.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 1 points 9m ago
If I was in nyc I’d be like “best start walking to the right store location” lol. I don’t mind doing it, but when it’s an order of 3-4 drinks I’m just like seriously…learn the store locations please lol

Uh no. Even if it’s one drink. I know what they’re trying to do. They will get a refund.
