Order the Carmel bottle spare kit( I don’t remember exactly what it’s called, but something like that) there are spares of the little white piece that can be replaced.
Canadiansbux98 points9m ago
Yes this is the right answer. When this happens to ours we just put in a new white rubber piece.
liaminnesotan15 points9m ago
I can’t figure out how to reply to OP but this can be prevented by not putting them through Hobart. My store hand washes them and then lets them sit in sani for five minutes
Perfect-Leadership58154 points9m ago
see my manager keeps getting on us about this because “we’re the only store with this problem” and i KNEW he was exaggerating. how tf am i supposed to make the caramels stop leaking, i’m not god and it’s too late
lilminch23 points9m ago
how would he even know that aren't there like 1000s of starbucks?? it happens to us too and it sucks
some people in the comments are saying that there's a spare caramel drizzle parts kit that can be ordered, maybe look into that :) in the meantime I've found moderate success by making sure the metal parts are screwed on not too tight or too loose, and for the ones that leak regardless I just put a sheet of parchment paper under them while they're in the backups area, it makes cleanup a little easier
Perfect-Leadership5819 points9m ago
yeah we do all that too /: it’s the little hole thingy (caramelussy) that stays open but usually if you tap them upside down against the counter after using them it stops. but also idk maybe none of the other stores in our district are complaining? but why would they ya know
lilminch13 points9m ago
not the caramelussy 💀 I'll have to try the tapping next time
uwumoment18 points9m ago
pls it’s too late 😭
bisexualgirlboss4 points9m ago
No we’ve had this problem too many times
darkwolf5231 points9m ago
Nah ours is too. Have to use the mocha drizzle bottles 😭
piratedashel85 points9m ago
Stop putting them right next to the bar 😵💫 it heats up the caramel and then it thins it out. Lmao
anahih2249 points9m ago
What if they aren’t stored near bar and they still do this?
florencelovelace47 points9m ago
do you put them in the hobart? that can be why
0x52and1x524 points9m ago
They’re supposed to be washed in the Hobart
Source: SCEMM for caramel bottles
tavi19915 points9m ago
Not the metal part, check your source again
EliMinivan [OP]27 points9m ago
They really don't feel warm but I'll give that a shot
tevansalim1 points9m ago
this doesnt have anything to do with it 😭😭
RutabagaSoft197379 points9m ago
this is what happened when the metal part is out in the hobart repeatedly. basically trash it and have your shift order new ones
olivinemultichrome37 points9m ago
You can replace the white seal and not have to trash the whole metal part
ElijahLordoftheWoods5 points9m ago
What’s the part number for just the seal? We need to replace all of them
olivinemultichrome10 points9m ago
It’s part of the caramel bottle spare part kit, I’m a former partner so I don’t have access to the specifics anymore lol
ElijahLordoftheWoods6 points9m ago
It’s all good! We had a newly made drizzle completely drain in like 15 minutes, into the bin holding the 9 others I’d just made. That was fun mess to clean up -.-
petuniaaflower1 points9m ago
is the metal part not supposed to go in the hobart?
turtle_sandwich_1 points9m ago
This. ^
20037198232 points9m ago
Put them in short lids and they’ll fit perfectly and catch the excess caramel.
lanhakari19 points9m ago
Order new Carmel sphincters
urlessies7 points9m ago
sphincters LMFAOOOO😭😭😭 that made my day
RayBun417 points9m ago
Haha ours do this too, or leak around the rim of the metal piece entirely. And they're new so they don't want us ordering replacements already.
icelessTrash7 points9m ago
If it's around the metal leakage, that metal part needs to be tightened. just don't jump the threads by trying to over twist it. Just turn it slowly until it's nice and snug and no longer easy to turn
Snarfungus16 points9m ago
we have a lot of caramel bottles that do this, the trick i use is tipping it upside down after each use, so there’s none left in the nozzle. then you should be able to put it back down without it leaking
PlaneJupiter7 points9m ago
This for sure, I was reading all the comments and saw no one say this but you. But yes! I’ve been doing it for so long it’s just habit, but I haven’t had any caramel fall out!
Snarfungus2 points9m ago
yess you get it!!
rnaggie5313 points9m ago
Either store the bottles and a large plexi upside down so that the opening is facing up. Another good tip is to put the big uber stickers on the opening.
cxndyr13 points9m ago
You don't want to keep them that close to the bars, but also if you're having consistent issues with them leaking A LOT, the gasket for the bottom is probably messed up and just needs to be discarded/replaced. At that point, throw away the WHOLE bottle. We cannot order just the bottom or top parts, so you'll just have an uneven amount of pieces if you throw away just the bottom.
EliMinivan [OP]10 points9m ago
Our warehouse keeps zeroing them out on our order, been trying for a while apparently (I'm not the manager lol). I moved them further away for now.
mini-maggit12 points9m ago
Don’t put the caramel small wares in the Hobart
EliMinivan [OP]8 points9m ago
What the hell is a Hobart? I work at a licensed store and have never heard of that. There's like 10 people commenting about it lol.
pinkjortz5 points9m ago
It’s the dishwasher-like sanitizer machine in the back. The caramel bottles have to be hand washed and soaked in sani in a sink, the Hobart destroys them afaik
EliMinivan [OP]3 points9m ago
We don't have any dish washer, everything is hand washed
pinkjortz2 points9m ago
Then it’s probably just time to replace them, the rubber can’t last forever
jams10151 points9m ago
It's an actual dishwasher, not just a sanitizer. :)
But yeah, I handwash and then sani-soak the metal parts of the drizzle bottles.
Ceramicusedbook4 points9m ago
Oh baby... The argument I triggered saying this in another thread was gigantic.
djdementia1 points9m ago
the dishwasher we use: https://www.hobartcorp.com/products/commercial-dishwashers/undercounters/lxe-base-undercounter
0x52and1x521 points9m ago
They’re supposed to be washed in the Hobart according to the SCEMM
https://i.imgur.com/rXgtC8a.jpg
clouds1832 points9m ago
thats not true for the metal bottom. stop doing this.
0x52and1x523 points9m ago
It literally is lol. It says to disassemble it completely and put the rubber pieces in the mesh bag.
0x52and1x521 points9m ago
Please stop being arrogant without a source lmfao https://imgur.com/a/00kbxD1
Nraveles1110 points9m ago
Yell at it so it develops trauma
ourgodwhofucks8 points9m ago
my store just completely switched to mocha drizzle bottles LOL, it was getting to the point that nearly an entire bottle would leak out in these ones
tiredbarista00047 points9m ago
this is what happens when people put the caramel drizzle stoppers in the hobart :/ there’s not really a fix other than ordering new parts
EliMinivan [OP]3 points9m ago
We don't have a dish washer
tiredbarista00042 points9m ago
then they’re being washed at too high a temperature
EliMinivan [OP]3 points9m ago
I really doubt it since I keep the water at a comfortable temp for my hands
tiredbarista00041 points9m ago
are you the only one who washes dishes? I’m just offering explanations since they almost always warp due to temperature.
LaReyna10303 points9m ago
Exactly this
mama_bibi7 points9m ago
Don't fill them up all the way. The weight of it is too much. If you leave about a good inch of room or more then it'll be fine
Walking_Stereotype6 points9m ago
I have heard that one should not put them in the dishwasher when cleaning them
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We don't have a dish washer
Assiqtaq6 points9m ago
New nipples. Washing wears them out so they don't hold so well anymore. Plus people forcing the caramel out of the crevices will rip the nipples open further, just making things worse. But those parts have to be cheap to replace.
ItsAWildFelix5 points9m ago
No more hobart D:
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We don't have one :(
albinopigsfromspace5 points9m ago
Put them on the egg bite trays
Alefur4 points9m ago
According to my store, place the caramel drizzles on a tray with a warming sheet under it and just deal with it. I hate it.
gametheguy551244 points9m ago
Push the top button on the lid thats what my manager with 15 years experience told me and it worked
xxbleeding_outxx4 points9m ago
dont hobart them!! handwash only!!’
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We don't have a dishwasher, all dishes are hand wash
xxbleeding_outxx2 points9m ago
oh okay!! then its probs what other ppl have said :p
ddebdesdemonaa4 points9m ago
The caramel top / bottom don’t go in Hobart. After a few runs through they’ll start to leak everywhere.
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We don't have a dishwasher
ddebdesdemonaa1 points9m ago
That’s interesting! I thought all stores had a Hobart but I really don’t know much I just assumed cause every store I have worked at has one.
Urmomscoochiehairs4 points9m ago
You need new gaskets if moving them doesn’t help we have ours under the bar next to the fridge in a lil cubby area and they still do this but worse til your store orders more we just set ours in tall cups
QueenMab883 points9m ago
Silicone is extremely heat resistant, so putting them in the Hobart doesn't hurt them at all. They just tear really easily because it's so thin. They will wear out eventually no matter how you wash them. The solution is to replace them.
MrsOceanGrown3 points9m ago
Someone also said to not fill them to the rim and that’s another reason why they leak. But idk about that..
RyusuiJL3 points9m ago
Don't over tighten the ends.
Jumper22orange3 points9m ago
I always just put an oven sheet under the caramel because of this
JHOOOOBI3 points9m ago
Put them in a tall cup/tall cup upside down
lakoooter2 points9m ago
don’t wash the metal part in the hobart
W0lf_20202 points9m ago
Don’t put the lids in the dishwasher!
Helpful-Toe21742 points9m ago
If u cant get the new white pieces just put them all in short or tall cups for the time being. Stops leaking on counter and still stands up
Junior-Relative-23312 points9m ago
at my store we realized that was happening when people were putting the parts in the hobart, only wash and sanitize the caramel bottles !!
poulson1072 points9m ago
To prevent it don't put the Carmel bottles in the Hobart that's what really ruins the little white pieces.
kearadunne2 points9m ago
You’re storing the caramel right nest to the mastrena, if you move it to the other side of the machine or closer to the lids, it will remain stable and not leak out of the nozzle. The heat from the espresso machine is also making the caramel more viscous 🫶 I’ve been a bar manager and kitchen manager for a while after getting experience from starbucks 🤦🏻♀️ I hope I can lend some experience 🥰 good luck with ur cursed caramels!! The work doesn’t get better, you do!!! You’re already taking it above and beyond by asking; you’re a gold standard for applying the meaningful changes that empower your team 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
morgan-elizabeth0-02 points9m ago
Unfortunately you can't fix it now, but the top and bottom of caramel driz's should be 'hand wash only' so the seals don't expand and leak air/caramel. Until you can get new ones, just put some warming papers under them to protect the surface :')
ConsequenceOk25902 points9m ago
Move it away from the hot espresso machine to start, make sure they are fully taken apart washed and then put back together (even all the small little silicone bits) if they are still leaking, might need to order more
lovelyinnit2 points9m ago
it’s kinda hard to stop without ordering new parts but at my store we put short lids underneath them cause they fit perfectly and make less of a mess of you’re looking for a easy fix :)
sizzlesfantalike2 points9m ago
Don’t tighten the top up until you use them, helps not pressuring it to leak
Elmo_the_Dragon2 points9m ago
I would make sure both the top and the metal parts are fully screwed on. I find that often times they are not and then it isn't a full seal and the caramel can drain. If they are still draining after making sure they are tightly closed, it is probably the white seal on the bottom (as others have said) or even the small rubber seal on the lid. Make sure that those parts are in properly and secured well. Good luck!
pinkiero2 points9m ago
My store puts all the caramels in grande hot cups to circumvent this while they’re not in use!! it helps when u can’t get the spare parts in
Alternative_Exam37232 points9m ago
Short cup under it😂
pezookazoo2 points9m ago
i always put the caramel drizzles when i’m not using them on a tall lid flipped if that makes sense.
Calm_Preference62092 points9m ago
Order a new one?
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We've tried, they don't ship.
Anngggiiiee2 points9m ago
Need new bottles
vegan-trash2 points9m ago
Prolapsed Anus lids
Deadrax5021 points9m ago
I heard putting them in the dishwasher does this
Formal-Ad28631 points9m ago
STOP PUTTING YOUR CARAMEL BOTTLES IN THE DISH WASHER!!!!! this happens often if you do. otherwise get the caramel spare white piece like people are saying
EliMinivan [OP]1 points9m ago
WE DONT HAVE A GOD DAMN DISH WASHER!!!!!!!
Christyawn1 points9m ago
just don’t put it thru the hobart after you order new gasket thingies
Cultural-Ad11671 points9m ago
Prevention 1) caramel bottles are best HAND WASHED - NO HOBART SANITIZER MACHINES (some stores the Hobart is Sanitizer only and some the Hobart is a dual dishwasher and sanitizer)
2) don’t place caramel bottles on top of Mastrenas, the drip tray, or the sides because the plastic degrades
3) don’t fill up all the way, leave some head room
Solutions
1) ask shifts or SM to order caramel kits
2) have a storage bin (white plastic tray available to order), I like putting deli sheets along the bottom for easy clean up!
putridfairy1 points9m ago
Tbh we put a piece of wax piece down
tatu-lasair1 points9m ago
I have found that even just making sure the lid is on all the way (to create a seal) makes a HUGE difference
swimminmentos1 points9m ago
I’d also saran wrap the trays to make easier clean up
Arevrec1 points9m ago
Stop putting them in the dishwasher the heat loosens the seal
EliMinivan [OP]1 points9m ago
Everyone who thinks this is wrong. We don't have a dishwasher. Every thing is hand washed at a skin comfortable temp
yeeterskeeteryall1 points9m ago
Clean it, scrub it, replace the feckin rubber
When rubber bits lose their tackiness the seal gets broken
Like someone earlier said, order the spare parts for the caramel bottles and keep extras on hand at all times bc boiiiiii this happens way too often and I hate it lmao. But the rubber bits just need replacing regularly
NyanBecca1 points9m ago
If you don’t wash the tops in the Hobart I think that helps. Rubber things aren’t supposed to go in there
majik_rose1 points9m ago
Idk how to actually fix it but the metal base fits perfectly into a short lid
Put_Me_In_Coach961 points9m ago
You need new rubber gaskets/seal things. Also, stop putting them in the sani machine. The temp gets too high and warps the bottles, lids, and rubber seals. At my store, once we got all new bottles and hand washed them only, the problem mostly stopped. (The consistency of the caramel also varies and for a while we were getting caramel that was so thin it was basically water.)
These-Sky89311 points9m ago
Have your sm order new ones or at least replacement bottoms
b99__throwaway1 points9m ago
ours were doing that but we stopped filling them up all the way to the top & it kinda helped. idk why tho
PlantVader1 points9m ago
The white rubber caramelussy ripped
SqzHerLimes1 points9m ago
screw it on until you feel it start to feel the friction set in. if that doesnt work just throw it on top a tall hot lid to contain the leak. it fits perfectly and you can put a sticker on the hole to keep it from spreading.
htmldun1 points9m ago
Don’t put the metal part in the dishwasher, also we’re supposed to get new gravity bottle tops every 6 months so that they’re never worn out
Uh_Sean1 points9m ago
My coworkers and I just put drink sleeves in the little slot between the metal and the carmelussy
Animegirl3001 points9m ago
The person who trained me said it happens even when the sanitizer water is too high, so I imagine it happens from the Hobart and anything else too hot too.
molwalk1 points9m ago
I too would like to know
Psychoegorl1 points9m ago
The seal breaks when it’s heated repeatedly. Just wash by hand (not in hobart) and don’t leave them next to ovens
BlooperBoo1 points9m ago
The top also needs to be tight. Both ends do and it works 99% of the time
TwoRemote34041 points9m ago
Tbh it only happens at my store when the bottles aren’t screwed correctly
derbylane11 points9m ago
Stop putting them in the hobart.
EliMinivan [OP]1 points9m ago
We don't have a dishwasher
bryceofswadia1 points9m ago
Hand wash them.
stunky4201 points9m ago
Don’t put it in the hobart
yirium1 points9m ago
Don’t put the lids through dish washers to prevent the rubber part from deteriorating
uwumoment1 points9m ago
now i know a lot of things in my store are fucked up cause we put them in the hobart. we got new blender lids bc the old ones we had to push into the blenders, these just pop right in and we aren’t allowed to put them in the hobart anymore, so probably the metal part of the drizz bottle
BlazekinsLit1 points9m ago
The reason that happens is cus people have probably put the Lids in the dishwasher
EliMinivan [OP]2 points9m ago
We dont have a dishwasher

jetstarxo1 points9m ago
Don’t put the bottoms in dish washer! Someone at our store keeps doing it and it leaks all over the place😭

Omg 😭 rip.
