Do y’all mind mobile ordering? Is it more inconvenient? I don’t want to put more on your plate or make your job more difficult at all lol so just curious
Low_Analysis319553 points9m ago
it’s definitely not more inconvenient to make, but it can just pile up way quicker than cafe or drive thru and people expect it to be done when they get there so they will get angry when it’s not done (cause it’s backed up)
Queasy_Judge240536 points9m ago
we dislike the overall idea and execution of mobiles, not the people who place them. go ahead and place a mobile if you’d like! :)
rterrebo29 points9m ago
My only complaint about mobile is whoever decided to create it should have become a barista first. Because they definitely don't print the drink or its ingredients in the sequence we need to make the drinks as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Otherwise, I love y'all and I look forward to seeing you every single day!
yvesagain14 points9m ago
This bugs me too! It's so hard to mentally keep track of the modifications when they're listed seemingly at random. Would it really be so difficult to program it so that they print in a logical order??
overturned2318 points9m ago
we don’t despise people who mobile order, we despise the system. it’s very flawed and needs improving
ElijahLordoftheWoods18 points9m ago
Honestly I’d rather you mobile, cuz then you aren’t in the cafe staring me down while I make all the drinks before yours lol (I’m sure if you’re considerate enough to come here and ask you aren’t one of *those* people anyway) Also by all means, pick it up in the drive through, it makes it easy on everybody.
AppointmentLatter30214 points9m ago
Only time I find frustrating is when people place it and then come store 1-2 mins after expecting it be done
I_like_to_know3 points9m ago
This makes me unreasonable cranky. Even when the customer's express that they just placed it and know it's not ready. Like, why??
malletgirl913 points9m ago
Once in a while I order and then get to the sbux faster than expected. So I always apologize when I get to the DT window so they know I wasn’t trying to be *that person*™️
AppointmentLatter3027 points9m ago
Most time it people who legitly in our parking lot when they place the order then go through drive through and expect be done
Vegan_Sweetie4 points9m ago
Or those people who go up to the speaker box, sit there not answering, then roll down their window and say “I just placed a mobile order for so-and-so.”
I_like_to_know4 points9m ago
This is the worst. I love being able to say, "Ok, well our mobile orders are a little backed up so we'll need you to park and come in to wait for that"
malletgirl913 points9m ago
Yeahhh, I used to be a partner and that was always the worst. Like, no karen, it’s double star day and the HS down the street is having a pep rally, so half the school is skipping to come to sbux.
Your complicated nonsense is gonna take a hot minute 🥲
canadianhorror8 points9m ago
No, but what I do mind is when people treat it like a way to skip the line, and show up 0.2 seconds after placing it expecting us to magically pull it out of our asses.
hmarie07168 points9m ago
No, I actually like them because you’re not there staring me down as I make it. It’s less pressure. I just dislike the system. In addition to other flaws listed by others, it’d be convenient to have a dedicated mobile order bar and sticker machine for when it’s busy.
gabby246816 points9m ago
Unless you’re me who likes to pull all my stickers and then everybody shows up at once
hmarie07163 points9m ago
Omg, every time too😭
Vegan_Sweetie2 points9m ago
I legitimately hate it when my fellow baristas do that. Sometimes people pull stickers FOR me, and then everyone comes all at once. 🥴
mangotangoafterdark8 points9m ago
it’s easier for us when we are busy because it takes us away from working when we need to take an order at reg
mulberrybby6 points9m ago
The only downfall is when 10 people order in the same minute. No one Can expect atleast 15 drink orders to be done in 5-7 minutes. I wish they would time them out a little or something. But that’s not your issue. Mobile order and just pick up at the time the app says or a little after, if you know the store Is busy (if it’s a Saturday late morning/early afternoon or weekday early morning def take your time picking it up)
Vegan_Sweetie6 points9m ago
Ooo—that’s an idea! If Starbucks app could PACE the mobile orders, to give us time to make them, it would be a seamless wonderland of perfection. 😃
It would also be cool if the app could actually track how many orders one store is getting, (not just the order-count, but the number of drinks/food per order) and give the customers an estimated wait time based on the actual amount of time it takes to make stuff.
mulberrybby2 points9m ago
YES! Cause 9 times out of 10 mobile orders have more than 1 drink or food item in there. Atleast 3
Vegan_Sweetie5 points9m ago
It is not inconvenient or annoying.
However, I feel that it has been misrepresented to the public: for example, it is almost always advertised as a way to “skip the lines” etc. Ordering by mobile will not “skip the lines.” We still make ALL the drinks in the order we get them, which means if we have 20 mobile orders and yours is 21 you’ll still have to wait for 20 drinks to be made before yours.
You might not have to queue, but your drink still does. 🫤
I feel like because the way it’s been advertised, Mobile customers often *expect* what they have been promised, which is *not to wait*
In reality, you’re not able to skip the line at all—you can just PRIORITIZE your time, by *ordering ahead*
IE— if you really want to *skip the line* YOU have to order WELL ahead during peak-times to ensure the store has PLENTY of time to make not just your drink, but the 20+ before it.
Your wait time ultimately comes down to *your* own sense of how long it will take us to make the volume of drinks we’re creating at any given time, and then putting in your drink order in advance of the amount of time it will take to complete.
ManufacturerOk54422 points9m ago
The only time mobile ordering bugs me is when it’s placed like only a min or two before you arrive. Like the only thing we ask is that you just allow us some time to make your drink. Typically, I run into this issue in drive thru the most and honestly at that point it is a whole lot easier for you to just order at the speaker so we don’t have to dig through a sea of mobiles to find it. But again, this is quite literally the only scenario that’s a bit frustrating to me.
dankmobile2 points9m ago
don’t care about mobiles as long as you’re patient and don’t hound us for your drinks before it’s been 10+ mins. what i do mind is customers lurking in this sub lol
DisciplineLeather1272 points9m ago
Mobiles are great! I just wish they had a cap every 15 minutes on how many orders can be placed during that time frame. I feel horrible when I am swamped trying to do mobiles and café orders at the same time and I can’t get the drinks out fast enough. Otherwise they’re great and totally not a customer problem just an issue with how Starbucks executed its mobile ordering system
SqzHerLimes2 points9m ago
Mobile are a good concept and are good source of income. The system needs to be overhauled. The people placing the orders are fine.
vegan-trash2 points9m ago
It’s only annoying when the customer tells me they have a mobile in DT and I spend 1-2 minutes searching for it and it hasn’t actually been placed yet
clouds1832 points9m ago
my only issue is when theres so many modifications it seems like the customer doesn’t know what they’re ordering
Torirock102 points9m ago
who cares
testingaurora2 points9m ago
Do you get the tips from a mobile order? I always prefer to tip cash but when I'm light I tip through the app and just hope it goes to the right store
yvesagain4 points9m ago
we do get tips through mobile orders :)
testingaurora2 points9m ago
Are you able to see it on the order?
yvesagain5 points9m ago
you mean can us baristas see if you tipped on mobile? to my knowledge, no. the system we have only displays the name, order items, and time since the order was placed
testingaurora2 points9m ago
Gotcha, just curious. Didn't have mobile orders where I was. Thank you so much for going thru it , I hope most of your customers make you feel appreciated. I know there are nightmare patrons too, I just always try to show my baristas I so appreciate them.
