Nerd ? Espresso Beans vs Roast Beans (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by purseEffphony
So looking at the package for Blonde Espresso Roast and Veranda - they are both made from Arabica Beans. So what is the ultimate difference?

I did a little research and the best answer I could find is that Espresso is a matter of time and pressure and grind vs brewed coffee. In theory I could brew espresso as regular coffee and any coffee as espresso..

I'm really curious!

Espresso roast is just a roast that they think is best for espresso. It can be used to make regular coffee, it just tends to be a little darker of a roast. Blonde espresso roast will be a darker roast than the Veranda.

So yeah. You can brew any beans any method.

In the case of blonde espresso and veranda, one of the big differences is the origin of the beans. Veranda only has Latin American beans while blonde espresso has beans from east Africa in addition to some Latin American. They also probably do something different in the roasting process but details on that aren’t as easy to find. Origin is really big w/ coffee because if you grow the same kind of coffee plant in different climate and soil conditions you get noticeably different results.

Highly recommend trying blonde espresso beans brewed as coffee because I HATE veranda. I also super dislike the signature espresso and only ever get espresso drinks with blonde shots.

The blonde espresso is roasted differently. We ran out of blonde espresso at my store and didn’t have any sirens blend to replace it with so we thought we were geniuses to put veranda in the machine. It pulled like water because the roast and therefore the beans aren’t suited for espresso brewing

Interesting butnSirens Blend would be a sub for Blonde Esp?

It’s not exactly the same, but yeah, siren’s blend is the first thing we’re meant to use as a sub for blonde espresso as far as I’ve heard

Don’t think anyone touched on *arabica*, but that’s just the species of coffee plant (coffea arabica). Arabica grows at higher elevations and is considered more desirable than its relative, coffea robusta, which you’ll often find in “diner coffee.”

Is there a difference in espresso beans and roast coffee beans? Is it how they are roasted? Im curious aboit the process
