Do any of you have a preferred brand of shoe you use for working? I just landed a job at starbucks and my shoes do not really work for dress code.

Been working the food service industry for over 10 years. The best pair of shoes I’ve had are my current Doc Martens. They’re part of their work shoe line, the soles are slip resistant and the leather is softer so they’re easier to break in. Plus the inside is more padded and supportive of your feet. They cost about $120 but I’ve had these for over 4 years and they’re still going strong. My feet don’t hurt at the end of a long shift and I’ve never slipped in them. I know they’re on the more costly side of work shoes but I was getting tired of spending $50-80 every year on a new pair of shoes.

I second this! Except I bought mine maybe 1-2years ago and they were $160 but they are 100% worth the investment.

25$ pair from walmart

The Skechers workwear line has worked very well for me, and we get a 30% discount on Skechers so it’s a win-win.

Man I just bought some and I wish I knew that I got a discount before I did 🫠

Crocs, the “crocs for work” meet all the criteria for a great barista shoe and they are not expensive. If you don’t mind spending money on shoes, nursing shoes are totally the way to go!

i got by on some cheap boots from target for a year, but i just recently bit the bullet and bought some nonslip steel toe doc martens and i am in love. they weren't cheap by any means but i can actually walk around on the wet floors without fearing for my life lmao. the steel toe isn't necessary, just something that i personally wanted.
but in general, any nonslip shoes will be fine. i'd recommend leather or a similar water resistant material because things get spilled and having wet shoes/socks is hell.

sketchers work like shoes. 😭 amazing. i usually buy a pair once a year and it lasts well. i don’t take care of my things and i’m always wearing them so they give out a bit faster for me but for most people they work well.

been loving my sketchers work shoes. they’re slip on with like fake laces so i can just put them on in the morning no thoughts. I’m probably gonna buy a new pair soon and put in inserts just because my ankles be popping and crackling like i’m a bowl of rice crispies

I use an off-brand non slip, will have some Shoes for Crews high tops soon and my usual shoes are from the Timberland work line. The best bet is to hit up a shoe shop and go through their work shoes to see what you like.
Edit: after spraining my ankle in a prior job from slipping I heavily prefer any non-slip boot for the ankle support.

i just wear my converse
Not_Another_Karen1 points9m ago
Same. A 54 year old coworker said how much she loved my Converse and was off to get a pair herself.

one day i'm fr gonna slip and break my neck but at least i look cute
jetstarxo1 points9m ago
I got a $30 pair at Walmart they are pretty okay. Better then the non-slip vans I got. I slipped two days in a row and fell on my butt. I ended up bruising my tail bone. I felt like I couldn’t sit down for almost a month.

Playless or sketchers.

I've been wearing doc martens lately and they're great for me, but it really depends on what kind of arch support you need. Non-slip and comfortable for hours of standing is the best! Skechers are also great. Plus the 30% discount lol.
