Am I wrong for being mad about this? ()

I’ve heard it before. The SM at my old store told the shifts that if they weren’t more flexible with their availabilities than she would have to promote more shifts with better availabilities and they would lose hours.

Tbh what your store manager is saying is fair enough. they have a weekly labor allowance given by corporate that they aren’t supposed to go over plus scheduling around everyone’s individual availabilities. If there are frequent call outs and no one is available to come in to pick up the hours, then what else are they supposed to besides hire more people and give the hours to them.

Yeah I do understand that they have hour allowances, and I know that’s a limit for them. I’m not complaining about that! I will also admit that I don’t know any one’s availabilities other than my own. That said I do feel like we have plenty of baristas already at the store and what I’ve heard from SSVs is that we aren’t being properly scheduled. Additionally, even if nobody has availability, I’m just really put off by the way my SM addressed it because it came off as a passive aggressive threat, the way they phrased it.

No one ever thinks they’re scheduled enough people. You may have plenty of baristas but none of them are ever able to cover call outs. If persistent calling out is a problem and getting worse with no one able to cover then the only solution is to hire more people which lessens the hours everyone will get. Idk how the text was worded but it’s a fact.

That is a good point. I won’t be putting the message here because I would prefer it not be traced back to me or my store, but I will take into consideration what you’ve said.
