how to call out without feeling like the biggest pos to ever exist? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ok_Investigator4314
I always feel so so so guilty when I call out and rarely ever do but i’m getting so sick of my manager taking advantage of me for being a good reliable employee and constantly fucking me and other partners over. other partners get to call out almost every day yet I never fail to show up and I get repaid by being scheduled 7 days in a row 🥰 so with today being my 7th day in a row, should I just call out? I want to show her she can’t just keep doing this to me but I feel bad bc I know the shift who’s there now will have to close early and I don’t want him to be the one getting fucked over..

Don't feel bad about calling out sick. Be angry at a company that doesn't staff you well enough to take a sick day.

We have a partner who calls out for their opening shift multiple times a week. I don't get it. They post in the group chat at 2am "can anyone cover my 5:30am shift?"

One of the shifts dreads answering the phone on days they know this partner is opening with them because 9/10 it's the partner calling out.

I've called out last minute once and felt awful.

Calling out because you're burnt out from working that many days in a row is valid. Doing it to teach your manager a lesson only hurts your team and makes you feel crappy about leaving them in a bind.

If you are sick/not feeling well, don’t feel bad about calling out!!

But calling out to “show your manager” that you won’t be taken advantage of won’t do anything. It won’t change your managers behavior at all, especially if you don’t say “I am calling out because I was scheduled 7 days in a row”

The only way to get your manager to stop taking advantage of you is to have a conversation with them, and then transfer if nothing changes. Some SMs are just shitty, others just don’t realize what they’re doing

Are you being taken advantage of or do you have full availability, 7 days a week, and have shown an interest in hours?

Update your availability to have at least one or two days off, or at the very least one day off and a 4 hour availability shift.

I’ve been sick all week and have had to call out for 4 of my 5 shifts(calling in tomorrow also) and I literally cry because the guilt 😫😫I feel so bad

just change your availability? you wouldn't be sticking it to your manager, you'd just be screwing over your other partners.

i called out for my entire work week this week because of a back injury that caused my left arm to go numb and my boss is threatening to fire me ✌🏽 i love her so fucking much 😃🧐
edit: i know the laws are protecting me but this isn’t good and i’m not happy about it just let me complain i have this under control
