I am leaving the siren (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by peachy-san09
After a very eventful year at the siren I got a new job in my major field of interest, since I am a full time student and the other job is gonna be 36-48 hours a week I cannot keep both jobs so it’s a good bye. On that note does anyone know if I should take my money out of the fidelity stuff and the 401k I’m signed up to 😃

What I did with my previous employer 401k is I opened my own 401k and transferred it but I believe there’s a short waiting period before you can do anything with the money. Also if you do choose to take the 401k and just cash it out instead of put it into a new 401k there will be a fee.

Also if you want to open "your own 401k" it would actually be called an IRA. More than likely, a "rollover IRA" but that's just what Fidelity calls it so other Financial companies may have a different name for it.

Edit: That is unless your new place of work also has a 401k, sometimes you can roll it over to the new one.
