First day without my trainer…. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mellon_Whimsy
Hey y’all today is my first day on my own. I’m really anxious about it and I was wondering what to expect ( ; ω ; )

Ask questions. Ask questions. Ask questions. It’s a lot easier to ask questions than to have other baristas constantly fix your mistakes.

Good luck. Always ask questions when you don’t know, someone will likely shout back an answer. Your team will appreciate you for it

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Nobody expects you to know everything right out of training. You’ll be anxious (I sure as hell was), but go out there and know it’s OK to ask questions and to make mistakes ! :) you’ll get there!!

Also if you’re not sure what to do when you show up, just walk up to your shift leader and ask :)

But for real if you make a mistake, it’s absolutely no worries! Don’t be hard on yourself! There’s sO many things to learn with this job, and sometimes the best way to learn is to make mistakes, ask questions, and just learn! :) let us know how it goes!

They should be aware you are fresh out of training and not expect you to know everything. I would always tell my trainees, training is more of an introduction to everything, rather than a “you completed training you should know everything”. So ask questions!! If you don’t have anything to do ask someone “hey what can I do right now to help?”! You’ll do great!

Trust me, ask questions when you need help. Honestly a lot of us like being asked questions because it means you recognize we are a strong part of the store. Also we would prefer to be bothered rather than have to fix a mistake! Also, everyone will love you and you are amazing❤️. The fact that you are worried means you care about the job and as a result will do great at it! Good luck lovely

Expect to mess up, and when you do ask questions. If you don’t you can get into some bad habits like me. It took me a few days but after that I am doing much better now. Just keep going, sometimes you might want to just quit when it gets uncomfortable but if you push through that anxiety you will get better quicker.

They’ll probably have you either on cash-register at DT, on POS in the cafe, or doing barrista/Customer Support.

Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions!

Good luck, and you got this! 🍀
