submitted by Swimming_Ad_2163
i am in bar training and i am struggling trying to remember how the drinks get assembled.

Edit: Thanks to u/dazedandconfusedhere for correcting me on a few things. There’s always room to learn!

Most drinks use the same patterns, although there are exceptions. Remember you can always access beverage recipes in the Store Resources app in the Beverage Recipes (Core) folder.

I went ahead and put together a 'lil standards chart for you to look at whenever.

Remember that Hot Bar is everything except for Shaken Iced Teas, Waters, Fraps, Cold Brew, Iced Coffee, and Refreshers.

**Hot Bar Syrup**

Most drinks follow these standard syrup amounts, but there are exceptions.

These standards apply to Iced Coffees, They get Classic Syrup by default unless the customer asks for something else or for no syrup.

Macchiatos get one pump less of syrup.

Shaken Espressos use half pumps. They're the pumps that are more "oval-y" in shape. If you use these in a regular drink, pump twice for every regular pump. For Shaken Espressos, pump only halfway on regular sized pumps.

|Syrup Pumps|Hot|Iced|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Short|2|N/A|
|Tall|3|3|
|Grande|4|4|
|Venti|5|6|
|Trenta|N/A|7|

**Hot Bar Espresso Shots**

Flat Whites get one extra shot and the shots are all ristretto (press the \[R\] button - it just means that the shots are made with less water).

Americanos get 1/2/3/4 shots depending on the size.

|Espresso Shots|Hot|Iced|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Short|1|N/A|
|Tall|1|1|
|Grande|2|2|
|Venti|2|3|

**Brewed Tea**

Applies to Honey Citrus Mint Teas and to Teavana Brewed Teas.

|Brewed Tea|Hot|
|:-|:-|
|Short|1|
|Tall|1|
|Grande|2|
|Venti|2|

**Fraps**

These apply to most fraps without exception, except for Espresso Fraps and Strawberry Creme Fraps.

Espresso fraps get one shot of espresso along with their froast (shorthand for frap roast) and no syrup unless requested otherwise.

Strawberry Creme Fraps get an amount of Strawberry Purree (1/2", I think) in place of froast and Purree in the bottom of the cup before the drink itself is poured in and also get Classic Syrup by default.

|Fraps (half pump syrups and frap roast)|Frozen|
|:-|:-|
|Tall|2|
|Grande|3|
|Venti|4|

**Decaf Fraps**

Decaf Fraps get shots of decaf espresso. Most people use one shot of espresso in place of froast, but the standard is different.

|Decaf Fraps Espresso Shots|Frozen|
|:-|:-|
|Tall|1|
|Grande|2|
|Venti|3|

**Cold Brew**

Neither Cold Brew nor Nitro Cold Brew (which is served without ice) get syrup.

However, alternative versions of these drinks such as the Chocolate Cream Cold Brew or Vanilla Sweet Cream Nitro Cold Brew get Vanilla Syrup, whether or not they are vanilla flavored.

Also, make sure you don't serve a size larger than Grande for Nitro. We can only serve Tall or Grande for that.

|Cold Brew Syrup Pumps|Iced|
|:-|:-|
|Tall|1|
|Grande|2|
|Venti|3|
|Trenta|4|

**Cold Foams**

Cold Foam is delicious. It's our Sweet Cream put into a blender to the 100ml line and stirred in the blender on setting #3 along with any additional ingredients.

If somebody asks for a special type of foam (Raspberry Foam, Matcha Foam), always use two pumps or scoops of whatever the needed ingredient is.

|Cold Foam Recipe Standards|Foam|
|:-|:-|
|Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam (VSSCF)|Sweet Cream to the 100ml line|
|Chocolate Cream Cold Foam|VSCCF with two scoops of chocolate malt powder|
|Salted Caramel Cream Cold Foam|VSSCF with two packets of salt and two pumps of caramel.|

**Iced Teas and Refreshers**

The instructions are on the shaker. Just remember that base is base or tea concentrate (depending on the beverage) and the other bit is for water, lemonade, or coconut milk. Yes, we water down our teas. No, it does not taste good.

Pink Drinks, Paradise Drinks, and Dragon Drinks use coconut milk and get no syrup unless otherwise requested, in which case you should reference the hot bar syrup standards, even though it's a cold bar drink.

If someone asks for a sweet tea, use Liquid Cane Syrup. Make sure on Shaken Teas you use half pumps.

I hope that's all helpful! Let me know if you have any questions and I'll reach out as soon as I can. Good luck!

Amazing, you're an angel for taking the time to do this. This should be bookmarked for everytime a GB asks this question

One correction: americanos are not one extra shot

Short is still 1, tall is 2, grande is 3, venti hot is 4, and venti iced is 4 shots!

Flat white is a “true" plus one shot, short getting 2, tall 2, grande 3, venti hot 3, venti iced 4 ristretto shots :)

Also for Frappuccinos if you use a full dose pump, you should do 1/2/2 pumps of the syrup; except for the matcha frap, it gets 2/3/4 full pumps of classic

Also iced teas and Frappuccinos are half pumps

I corrected the americano bit (oops, my bad 😅).
The flat white recipe I had was correct already.
I clarified that syrups get half pumps for fraps - my mistake, I forgot to include that.

You put tons of information into an awesome comment! It’s always helpful to have a second set of eyes :)

Plus I feel like everyone teaches “americanos are an extra shot”, because it’s *almost* true lol
barlemniscate 1 points 9m ago
It so almost is! How many people order Shorts? They’re good for kids and maybe little treats like the (wonderful) caramel apple spice, but I never see them used.
Edit: I forgot Venti drinks exist - so I guess Shorts and Ventis.. which many people order 😑😅

So helpful thank you so much for your time writing this out!
barlemniscate 1 points 8m ago
Of course, queen. If you ever aren’t sure on anything, you can check the recipe in the beverage recipes folder.
diphenhydranautical 1 points 9m ago
so the one thing i struggle to remember is pumps for “cold bar” drinks like teas and iced coffee. do you use full pumps of hot bar standard syrups or half pumps? i always get conflicting answers when i ask partners at my store haha
barlemniscate 2 points 9m ago
Iced teas, coffees, and refreshers get full pumps! Fraps, on the other hand, get full pumps.
diphenhydranautical 2 points 9m ago
thank you!!!! that’s what i do, i’ve never been told otherwise. but my trainer didn’t explain *anything* about “cold bar pumps” or “half pumps” during training. i’ve been here nearly a year and was still uncertain haha
barlemniscate 2 points 9m ago
Ok - turns out iced teas get half pumps! My bad, somebody corrected me.
Alternative_Exam3723 9 points 9m ago
To remember how many pumps go into what; while pumping I say “short, short, tall, grande, venti, iced venti, Trenta”
I learned that from someone on here 😂
skylikeslemonade 3 points 9m ago
that’s GENIUS
Alternative_Exam3723 3 points 9m ago
I teach all the green beans it!
This Reddit has taught me so much! A lot more than training ever did😂
Forgettable_Man 5 points 9m ago
something i did is watch youtube videos of people making drinks throughout their shift and say the recipe in my head.
Ceramicusedbook 3 points 9m ago
I have a little note book I keep iin my apron. Writing it down myself has really helped in learning, and I have it on me if I forget. I find myself reaching for it less every time I'm on bar.
Vegan_Sweetie 3 points 9m ago
My store has a Frappuccino cheat sheet taped to the top of cold-bar fridge right by the blenders where we make Frappuccinos. 😬
_notaprilbutmayy 2 points 9m ago
i have a little infographic if you’d like me to send it to you!
Swimming_Ad_2163 [OP] 1 points 9m ago

Get as much bar time as possible so you can practice! And read recipe cards!
gabby24681 1 points 9m ago
Usually each store will have the pump numbers/order on top of the fridges for that specific bar area
