WHY DO MEN FEEL THE NEED TO TOUCH MY HAND AS I HAND THEM THEIR DRINK 🤮🤮🤮(self.starbucksbaristas)

It's so annoying. I'll give them so much space to grab and they still touch my hand
Tara_Kitten133 points9m ago
Ugh yeah. I've literally had old guys grab my shoulder before like WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
trentablondelatte [OP]58 points9m ago
EW NO NO NO
rwwhys39 points9m ago
I think at that point you should be aloud to take their hand and remove it from your shoulder, or just clock them if it’s someone you have told not to do it before
elpayasoeso1111 points9m ago
Bruh I’d rate your store a 5/5 on Google for clocking a guy lol
rwwhys3 points9m ago
Thx man. I wish I was still with the company
MarieCrepes104 points9m ago
The last time I worked at Starbucks back in 2020 there was this one elderly man with the longest, nastiest Dracula type nails... one day he dragged his nasty ass nails over the entire length of my hand and I can still remember how sick I felt after 😭 I refused to serve him after that he was genuinely disgusting and his nails were like black with grime
Any_Target530713 points9m ago
I would have been screaming so bad after that omfg
kurokittie63 points9m ago
or whenever u pass them their change 😷 like sir please don’t touch me and take ur money lmao
trentablondelatte [OP]48 points9m ago
just hold ur hand out and i’ll plop it in ur palms for ya sir

Yes I hate this I try to hand things off in a way where there's no need to touch me and yet
I also don't like partners constantly touching my shoulders as they pass either tho
djdementia31 points9m ago
>don't like partners constantly touching my shoulders as they pass either tho
Yes, please if you are a partner that does this, switch to the 'hover hand' method rather than actually touching. That way if they start to back up into you your hand will prevent the motion but you aren't actually touching them.
kurokittie17 points9m ago
lol I had a younger partner greet me by putting her hand on my head while speaking to a customer and attempting to help them pick a drink, it makes me so deeply uncomfortable
Enough_Raise_71670 points9m ago
Nope.
sammieduck6942013 points9m ago
I’m sorry… if I’m passing by someone, I’ll be making a conscious effort not to disturb them. Touch them bump them… I have no reason to come in contact with anyone unless mutually agreed and initiated.
As a guy myself, I don’t understand why one would touch anyone especially in public, no matter what I think or feel??
tatu-lasair6 points9m ago
Honestly I just told my partners I don't like to be touched. They're super respectful of it and just learned to communicate better 'I'm behind you' 'coming in for mocha' 'on your list for ice' etc.
RoccoSteal1 points9m ago
Omg I wonder if my partners feel this. I’ve been tapping everyone by the shoulder and say “behind you” whenever I’m moving a drink behind them just to be absolutely sure they know I’m there , save us from accident.
ladysingtheblues40 points9m ago
Yup there was one guy in particular who always did it, no matter how carefully I try to hand him anything. Always paid in cash too so I'd have to have my hand touched a few times per transaction.
groovydoll17 points9m ago
I wish we had those money trays that I saw a lot in Japan
heyitsme96335 points9m ago
And the women who drag those long, dirty fake nails along your hand as they grab the cup right where you’re holding it. I’m holding it from the bottom for a reason.
trentablondelatte [OP]15 points9m ago
like why do they do that? what is the point ? i give y’all space for a reason 😭
mysterious_yams24 points9m ago
I will say it's not just men. People of all genders are gross and touch my whole ass man hand when I hand out drinks. Literally want to scream every time it happens
Tldr; people are gross, stop touching me
tavi199122 points9m ago
I never hand sh*t to anyone ever more, even cash and coins are put down on the counter so they can pick it up their-damn-selves
trentablondelatte [OP]11 points9m ago
drive through i can’t do that sadly
budsandrainbowsss1 points9m ago
Hand them the change back in a venti mug :)
trentablondelatte [OP]1 points9m ago
imma do it with just a vent iced cup at this point and put a lid on it
OkFunny977420 points9m ago
This 70 year old crotchety hunched over man came inside looking creepy as fuck and immediately had a this creepy smile once he saw me, I took his order and he ordered a venti latte and I said hot or iced and this man went “hot.. like you” Wanted to throw up all over the counter right then
trentablondelatte [OP]4 points9m ago
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
iiiimagery1 points9m ago
A guy Did something similar at my store he asked for a kiss when we said anything else so we immediately refused service and kicked him out
doojinz13 points9m ago
ITS NOT JUST MEN. 3 DAYS AGO I WAS DOUBLE DRIVING DURING PEAK AND I WAS WAITING FOR THIS LADY TO ROLL DOWN THEIR WINDOW TO PAY. SHE WAS LOOKING AWAY AND WAS ARM DEEP DIGGING FOR GOLD INTO HER NOSE. THIS WENT ON FOR A WHOLE MINUTE AND THEN SHE FINALLY LOOKED AT ME AND HER CARD WAS SO GRIMY. HER NAILS WERE SO LONG AND TOUCHED EVERY INCH OF MY HAND. I CRINGED, GAG, THREW UP, CRIED AND DIED. I WASHED MY HANDS FOR SO LONG
Socko-The-Sock13 points9m ago
ikr! like dude the cup isn't even on the counter yet chill
bigfoots-rightnipple12 points9m ago
*aggressively slathers myself in hand sanitizer as they drive away*
trentablondelatte [OP]9 points9m ago
“where is the sani” “someone give me sani” “i need to wash my hands, someone take window over”
maddogracer16111 points9m ago
It's not just men and it isn't just you. It's disgusting regardless.
chicken-tiddies8 points9m ago
The *grip* some men use. A guy popped my finger the other day when I was trying to hand him his coffee.
trentablondelatte [OP]2 points9m ago
how….the effort he had to have to do that oml
xiew7 points9m ago
The second their hand touches yours immediately release your grip on whatever you are holding. Teach them a lesson.
trentablondelatte [OP]2 points9m ago
noted
frenchsilkywilky6 points9m ago
and the old guy wink after they pay. just smile and drive away!!!!!
butterbuttercupcup5 points9m ago
And WHEN YOU HAND THEM THE CHANGE!!!!!!!
trentablondelatte [OP]2 points9m ago
the just grab ur whole hand at that point
breeeeeeeeee35 points9m ago
I had a customer stroke my arm from the elbow down while trying to hand off his drink. I started slamming his drinks down on the counter out of reach from him and using something else to slide it towards him.
trentablondelatte [OP]5 points9m ago
WHO DOES THAT, that’s just plain weird.
yikes-wazowski5 points9m ago
I had a lady grab my hand while taking her drink, all while telling me that she just got out of the hospital with pneumonia.
trentablondelatte [OP]5 points9m ago
nope….not today. I wore gloves one time cause it was so bad
Jessie16054 points9m ago
My situation is a little different im gender fluid and am a guy but there have been a few female partners that have touch my shoulder waist or back a little to weird its not that typical tap on the shoulder its more of that slow rub ah dub dub 😅🤣 a few are engage or in a relationship im like gobble down a refresher to chill a little lol
trentablondelatte [OP]3 points9m ago
ew i’m so sorry, i absolutely hate when people touch me in general so i feel ya. Lmao give a trenta with extra ice to chill lol
80sserialkiller3 points9m ago
it’s always the people coughing up their lungs and ordering a “medicine ball”
TylerJ7163 points9m ago
Today I got the traditional "I hear blondes have more fun" as he was walking out the door 😬
trentablondelatte [OP]3 points9m ago
who the hell says that
plantainpapii1 points9m ago
Dolly Parton.
whattheactualfckman3 points9m ago
Yeah I just set down the coffee on the counter now.
trentablondelatte [OP]3 points9m ago
drive through i wish i could
whattheactualfckman1 points9m ago
feel you. When I worked in drive thru I would hold the cup from the top (never dropped one/never the lid but below it) that did that trick
MoneyFree99113 points9m ago
Worked at McDonald’s and this dude grabbed my whole top part of my hand when I gave him the money and even ran down my hand and I was like bruh, then I handed him the receipt and he did the same thing.
HypnoticPeaches3 points9m ago
Aggressively maintain eye contact whilst using hand sanitizer.
Sufficient-Level-4082 points9m ago
Omg you get so many people that treat us like objects.
Older woman: I'd like a tea with honey.
Me: *makes it*
Her: it's good, but I prefer my honeys with blue eyes
Me: *has blue eyes* .....,.do you need anything else?
Sarenord2 points9m ago
for some fucking reason so many people feel the need to grab the drink from me the way I'm holding it, motherfucker i'm holding it in a way that gives you as much space to grab it as possible. Don't grab it by the millimeters of space around my fingers.
vegan-trash2 points9m ago
On the other hand why do I accidentally touch customers fingers when I take their card
trentablondelatte [OP]3 points9m ago
i feel like that’s even more awkward
Worldly_Cucumber_6922 points9m ago
This old man told me I should smile more and that I would be prettier if I smiled 😤 you wouldn’t smile under these working conditions
trentablondelatte [OP]2 points9m ago
someone said that to me the other day, he’s a regular in the mornings, i don’t speak to him or give him any attention
Worldly_Cucumber_6922 points9m ago
🤮
shortedgyasain2 points9m ago
This literally happened to me today in drive thru.. gave him enough room to grab his drinks and he still had to clasp his hand around mine 😭💀
willjuggleforcake2 points9m ago
So glad I’m at a store with no drive thru so I can leave the drink on the counter and never have anyone touch me 🤮
JibJab19942 points9m ago
It’s an epidemic. 😔
SelloutDude1 points9m ago
Pull the drink back, look them dead in the eyes, and tell them “don’t fucking touch me”, then let someone else hand it to them while you stare them down.
budsandrainbowsss1 points9m ago
You should be handing the drink out by the lid so the only option for the customer is to grab the cup. This is standard. Tends to help. But if they still touch your hand just drop there drink and make them feel bad for the obviously unwanted physical touch. Or…Speak up. I’m sure your fellow baristas will stick up for you when it happens.
AAA_Morningstar1 points9m ago
This happens all the time when I’m on drive through. And they even do it in front of their girlfriends/wives who are two busy with their noses buried in their phones. I’m also very obviously trans as I have a heart-shaped pin in the trans colors, a she/her pronoun pin, and the trans flag on my name tag. 😬😩
IndividualCorner15861 points9m ago
Why did my ex coworker feel the need to constantly squeeze my arms?
Sufficient-Level-4081 points9m ago
Report to your shift lead. Plz. If that doesn't work call PRCC
Magnumxl7111 points9m ago
Trust me it's not just men
jordan_leigh1 points9m ago
Shocked you’re actually handing drinks. I’d just set it on the handoff plane.
trentablondelatte [OP]1 points9m ago
drive through sadly
jordan_leigh1 points9m ago
Ah yeah true. Lol hand it out using a drink carrier from now on lol!
adolfop_4201 points9m ago
Idk this happens like all the time to me too and I’m a guy people are just weird and disgusting like that
breeeeeeeeee31 points9m ago
In the drive thru, use a steaming pitcher or gif here mug to hand it off (just like we would for a personal cup in cafe)
trentablondelatte [OP]2 points9m ago
we used to do that, i just don’t ever have time to grab the mug. Takes too much time when they have multiple drinks and i’m doing both DTO and DTR
Imaginary-Fix-24690 points9m ago
Ive never had this happen to me? I generally let go very fast
ConductorMeaty-1 points9m ago
WHY YOU ONLY POINTING OUT MEN?! I GET UNCOMFY WHEN AAAANNNYYYOOONNNEEE TOUCHES MY HAND WHEN I HAND THEM THEIR DRINK

tonydoesnotreal22 points9m ago
I've had customers literally try to grab the cup from my hands while I'm setting it down 💀
