A. Call it by its name, this is not medicinal at all. People get SO mad when you correct them and say honey citrus mint tea.
B. STOP COMING THROUGH THE DRIVE THRU SICK AS FUCK AND ORDERING A “MEDICINE BALL”. Like dude! You’re gonna get us sick?! You can’t even speak and are coughing up a lung but you’re gonna pick up a drink with no mask on????? I told some lady “yeah fyi the honey citrus mint tea doesn’t really actually do much of anything if you’re sick.” And she told me last time she got covid she came by a got one and it practically cured her. Christ! Wtf! Stay home! It’s just lemonade (aka sugar water with a hint of lemon) honey blend (honey flavored sugar) and tea! All the benefits of honey and lemon are lost on this drink bc it doesn’t HAVE honey and barely any lemon. Thanks for coming to my rant. I hate customers.

Me and my whole team hate making that drink so much it’s just really annoying and inconvenient when you have a bunch of other drinks to make.

Gotta walk all the way across the store just to get the freakin lemonade smh
BlueNaja5 points9m ago
Ugh dang I’m sorry to hear that! Thankfully my Starbucks is smaller so things are close by to run to.

Mines one of the bigger ones in the area, cold bar is a full 15+ feet of wall length and diagonal from hot. (It’s a big store)

godamn thats a huge store! my store is like the smallest in my district and we can barely squeeze through the back "room" (hallway. if you could even call it that)

Lawwd lol!! 😭

I’ve found it makes it really easy if you prep them in cups and keep them by the tea area, like prep the teas in a few grande & a few venti cups and when someone orders it they’re there so you’re not fumbling with the teas when your drive thru times are suffering.

One time a lady asked what drink would be best for a cold and I told her DayQuil

Yesterday someone came in and said what do you have that can help sick people??? And I was like “uh, nothing, we have teas if you want to get one but it’s not FOR sick people”. I wish I could have said try the pharmacy down the street.

I got some sick lady asking for the sickness drink one time 😭😭😭😭 I feel your pain

my first ever shift a lady came in and said i want my regular, a medicine ball. i looked through the whole menu and couldnt find it and after i had to get help with punching it in because its a honey citrus mint she yelled at me. hated them ever since :)
linseeded [OP]5 points9m ago
That’s disgusting. I’m sorry >:(
Renyx15 points9m ago
While I mostly agree, if you look at the ingredients on the honey blend bottle, real honey is the first ingredient listed so it is at least a main component.
linseeded [OP]18 points9m ago
Fair enough. I still think tea with actual honey and half a lemon in it would be much better for sickness tho :l
catpants24313 points9m ago
I fucking hate when they come in coughing, stuffy nose, red eyes saying "I need a medicine ball", no you need to get the fuck out and go to a DOCTOR 😭
linseeded [OP]4 points9m ago
I feel like customers don’t see us as people and therefore the social etiquette of not being sick as shit in public and wearing a mask if you are doesn’t apply when they come by the store.
megs12886 points9m ago
They need to give us stringless teabags to make things quicker and easier

Hahaha! Just this morning I coached a partner that “we don’t call it that behind this counter”!

I actually like making them. It’s a hot tea with some honey blend, it’s not inconvenient.
linseeded [OP]9 points9m ago
I don’t mind making them. I mind the breed of customer who gets them
Any_Target5307-43 points9m ago
I understand your point but the few times I’ve gotten someone to get me one while sick, it did seem to help me more than regular tea. To me, it’s medicinal but it could totally be a placebo effect. I also make mine with the honey packets vs Honey blend. I personally don’t correct customers I just key it in as what it is because it’s not worth arguing in my opinion.
linseeded [OP]26 points9m ago
Management at my store gets pissed if we don’t correct the name. I wouldn’t care half as much if I didn’t have to correct them.
Any_Target53077 points9m ago
I hate this for you.
dontcry2022-6 points9m ago
L management lol. If anything Starbucks as a brand should be grateful customers love this trendy drink so much they nicknamed it.
ThatOtherGuyTPM4 points9m ago
If I remember correctly, it was originally a made up drink from California called the medicine ball. When Starbucks added it to the menu, they changed the name so they weren’t claiming to sell medicine.
