when this happens i make myself sound as obnoxious as possible, being overly polite and drawing out my words, idk it's a new skill now
bonus if they drive up and immediately wave you at you and hold their card out while you are taking another order

I tell them I’ll be with them shortly, then wait a minimum of 30 seconds to greet them. I’m a former partner, now manager at Dunkin, and my favorite lately is people ordering as soon as they pull up without being greeted. I immediately cut them off and with the “hi, how can I help you?” with a slight ‘tude in my voice because it’s rude to just order without being greeted.

Be as sugary sweet as possible. 'thank you soooo much for your patience!' is how I start when I do that.

for real i intentionally wait up to a full minute before answering. helpful for allowing bar to catch up before putting in a new order lol. if i tell someone to wait a moment and they continue to order i make them repeat everything they said.

one time a lady pulled up and without waiting for a response or anything just went “HELLOOOO can i get an iced hazelnut latte and a cheese danish warmed up that’s all” and my supervisor waited a whole minute before picking up and making her say her entire order again 💀

I’ll answer back, “Yes?” and if they try to order, I immediately interrupt and say we need a second.

Just ignore em till im ready, they've already introduced themselves anyways.. haha

I don't say anything. I wait and then say "thank you soooo much for your patience, how can I help you?"

I don't care if they're saying hello, if they've already said their whole order, or if it's a mobile.

We will be with you as soon as we can. If you don't want to wait, place a mobile and come inside to get it.

I had a coworker at my old store who, when a customer would do that, would greet them, but then cut them off in the middle of them ordering and say “what can I get for you? 😁” lmfaO

My coworker says “are you ready?” Very urgently

best response is simply “HELLO?!”

I don’t say anything for a while even if I’m not busy 😇 let them wait and yell to themselves. Alternatively “I’ll be with you in just a second” and let them wait longer than they normally would.

What gets me is when they “HELLO??” and then when I ask them what they want, they say “Can I have a minute?”. Seriously that’s happened to me multiple times

I let them sit there. Each additional hello resets the timer.

When I still worked at McDonalds, I had enough of this one dude repeatedly saying hello, so I told them, “saying hello won’t get me to take your order faster.”

He drove off.

"Hello, I'll be right with you!"

Then when you're ready (or they've calmed down) "Thank you for your patience, what can we get for you?"

I don’t say shit, make their clown ass repeat their order when i’m ready 😌

Before I transferred to a cafe store, I used to tell people who did this, "Hi. Welcome to Starbucks, we'll be right with you" and if they continued to attempt to order I repeated it with the same nice bubbly tone but more sternly and slowly. Lolzz, the response was always, oh 😳.

What I didn't expect was when a customer recently came into to cafe while I was on bar and no one was at register [they were on ovens finishing up an order]. So I greeted them, said we'll be right with them etc. But this lady ignored what I said, saw no one on register, and then continued to start listing off her order. Some people aren't really listening, or fully aware of there surroundings. It did give make me laugh though, she was definitely in her own world lol.

“Thanks for choosing Starbucks, I’ll be right with you”

Yeah it’s annoying. Yeah they’re an inconsiderate prick. But don’t take it personally. Don’t let it add even an ounce of stress or negativity to your day. Just move on. You got this.

I used to just say, “Hello.” And then wait for them to like ask how I am or do something else. Fun experiment.

i wait, get on the headset just to say “thanks for choosing starbucks!! this is peachiez, take a moment to look over our menu and i’ll be with you in just a moment,” then wait at least a minute before saying “thank you so much for waiting, what can i get started for you?” with the sweetest, disney princess-esque voice i can muster.

Wait a second, say "hello? Can you hear me?" And then when they start talking give them the polite "Hi and welcome to Starbucks..." Over them

The people who say "hello" then when you greet them and are mumbling a bunch and I respond "I'm sorry, I cant hear you " and then they don't respond and I realize they're talking on the phone or with others settling an order and I respond "just let me know when you're ready" in a very high pitched overly nice, you just pissed me off tone and wasted my time are my favorite because the way they creak out that they're ready after that is far less entitled.

It makes me so happy reading the comments knowing I’m not the only one that makes them sit there after they pull up and say “HELLO?!” or I tell them I will be right with them after they do this and make them wait for a minute 😂

I miss what we did at my old store. After telling the person that we would be right with them, we would all just start imitating the “hello” over our headsets. It was really a fun bonding experience because we would make something fun out of something annoying. (This was obviously after peak lol)

If they pull up w “hello” I say “hi give us one sec we’ll be right w you” and make them wait just a tiny while for me to get the car out and cash them out, not that I need the extra time but ….. 🤠

I've had people come up and immediately start ordering, and I've had people order the minute I even speak and 9/10 times im telling them I'll be wirh them in a second. They'll order over me no matter what so I just ignore them and let them squirm impatiently lol

usually even if i can help them i go “i’ll be right with you” and i always end the interaction with “and thank you for your patience!!:)!!!”

I made a habit of immediately saying "thanks for choosing sbux, we'll be with you in just a moment" as SOON as I heard the ding. Anyone who managed to get HELLO out before that was treated to silence for a few minutes. Our location is so busy there's ALWAYS a line - you know we're open. You're being rude. There was a woman who trained her toddler grandchild to do it in the most annoying, screaming tone. I don't care if it's dead in here - now you wait.

literally every single time someone does this i just respond back with a very very overly customer service “HIIII!!!!!” like immediately because it’s like bruh hi? like give me a sec damn. After saying “hi!” in like a very condescending tone i usually tell them “i will be right with you okay?” like as if they’re a child and then i wait for like an entire minute before letting them order and help 2 cars at the window before helping them. I hate when people do that soooo much

Say “hi.” And nothing else

I like to say “If you could give me just one second I’ll take your order in a moment.” and then wait maybe 30 secs & say “Thanks so much for being patient, what can I get started for you today :)”

I immediately responded with “we’ll be right with you” and then take the time to connect with the customer at the window, wipe down my area, and take a breather before answering them. They played themselves, honestly

Even if I'm not the person on dto I yell into the mic to greet them. Give them a taste of their own medicine y'know

1. Wait about ten seconds and then greet them

2. Hold the headset mic as close to my mouth as possible and also talk louder than I normally do

I tell them to give me a minute, then after waiting a minute, I very deliberately say in my best customer service voice “thank you SO MUCH for your PATIENCE, what are we getting today?”

lately at my store everyone pulls up "hello??" "welcome to Starbucks what can I get started for you?" "hold on" I stand there dumbfounded as to why they said hello in the first place and when they're finally ready to order I tell them "hold on one moment please" wait like 4 seconds "alrighty what can I get for you"

I just let them sit there and keep saying hello

I make them wait a little lollllll

“Hi thanks for your patience what can I get started for you?”

“Thanks for choosing our Starbucks, we’ll be with you in just one moment” and then I make them wait for a minute.
