charging for alternative milk when it was all we had (self.starbucksbaristas)

ok so my store is in Florida and luckily hurricane ian did not majorly affect my area aside from a few power outages, downed trees and a few stray objects in odd places due to wind. but in preparation for the storm every stores in our district and the one closest to us threw away all food and dairy in case of power outage since starbucks actually allowed us to close a few days in advance of the storm. our trucks came but only brought a small amount of nonfat, heavy whipping cream and lemon loaves. we had all alternative milks and luckily were able to make whips and trade another store for 2% to make sweet cream today. but a woman came in while I was at POS and I informed her of our product issues. she proceeds to still order a drink with almond milk and asked if she would be charged for alternative milk to which I told her, “yes I can’t change that.” she tried to play it off like not a big deal and she was mad at the corporation but still called us scammers and it took everything in me to not say, “no one is holding a gun to your head, go to another store and see if they have what you want or literally any other coffee shop.” like I have no sympathy we just had a huge hurricane we are lucky to be safe and even our groceries stores are running low so it’s no surprise just like have compassion please and leave me alone. i’m sure I could’ve asked a shift to give her a discount but we were very busy and then I would have to do that for everyone.
