Co worker acts likes shes higher than the rest of us(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by shortedgyasain
We have a co-worker that acts like she's better and higher than any other barista and questions the shift leader when she's given a task to do. Yesterday I was put on cold bar and she was drive thru and she constantly tells others how to make drinks, whether we need help or not. And it's not just quietly reminding either, she has to make a big deal out of it and yell for the customers to her in the cafe and through the drive thru window.
The other day I was on hot bar and was making an iced caramel machiatto and she tried telling me that I didn't do the drizzle right, when I clearly did and others saw as well. It's incredibly frustrating because she walks around like she's higher than everybody else and doesn't stay planted in her position. The shift leaders don't know what to do with her, and the store owner only talked to her about it once.
(just as context she's a barista and not a shift leader or anything like that. We all were training behind bar and knew the cards when she was hired)

I swear every store has one of these. Best to just ignore them.

one of the baristas at my store acts like that too. it’s funny she thinks she’s above me and stuff when i’ve been working longer than her

Try doing it when you're both shifts. The trick? You do you. It always works out in the end when there's only one bad apple. They either get fed up and leave, or get fired.
Keep calm, and carry on.

politely tell her that you know how to do your job and don’t need coaching on things that you already do correctly and know how to do well

I told her that I did it right and knew how to make drinks, but she kept going "well actually-" and "for next time then" and gave me passive aggressive looks and whispers about me to her friends. Even some of the shift leaders are scared to tell/ask her anything

Dude, let her do that to you on the floor, and complain to your sm that you're getting singled out on the floor in full view of customers.
