my SM denied my availability when I said I couldn’t close (self.starbucksbaristas)

hi everyone ! you guys have been so helpful before so i felt like i could come in again for some more assistance! we just recently got a new store manager (outside hire who’s brand new to sbux). lately though, despite me asking for more morning shifts, he’s giving me every closing shift possible. my parents don’t like this because i’m not spending enough time with them and missing a lot of family events as a result, and my last managers were usually very receptive when i asked for more morning/midday shifts. i’m also stuck working with some careless SSVs when i close (long story short i basically end up closing by myself while they call their friends).
i edited my availability to be from 7am-5pm on weekdays, and 9am-5pm on weekends to try and avoid those closing shifts. right after i submitted it, my manager called me and said i needed to have at least two days where i could close, and then denied my availability request. he called me again right after i woke up this morning, telling me i need to submit new availability by tonight because he needs to make the new schedule tomorrow.
just wondering if this is like .. normal if that makes sense ? my other managers before this were very okay with me changing my availability so this feels very unusual. if it’s not normal, who can i talk to about it? all of my SSVs said it’s very strange that he’s not letting me not close, too. so i just want to hear some other ideas!!
