Hey! so yknow how on august first we were supposed to receive that raise where “all associates hired before May 2, 2022 will get either a 3% raise or have their pay set to $15 per hour, whichever is higher.” My manager told everyone what their new pays were and was told as a year long partner, i would be getting paid $15.42. 4 other partners who i trained 6 months ago were told the same pay so i was like “hmm that’s weird maybe i heard the number wrong.” so last month i checked my paystub and it said for the last two checks i had been getting $15hr i was like “damn i need to talk to my manager asap and get it fixed.”
I sat down with my manager and told her what’s up and she said “yeahhh…i was given the wrong numbers to tell you guys so that’s actually your new pay.” The weird part is she hadn’t told anyone yet… the only way you find out about it is if you go to her and ask directly about it.
Are we the only store with this issue?? i’m so confused and i feel like i deserve more pay for being a year old partner, but instead i, and a 3yr partner of mine are getting paid $15hr which is the same as starting baristas.
I also hit the date if my one year last month and i thought there was gonna be a raise for that as well but nope my manager says there isn’t?
what should i do in this situation?
edit: also why don’t we receive performance based raises??

What was your pay before the raise? Unfortunately, Starbucks does not consider a year to be tenured, but it doesn’t sound like you were at a year on august 1st anyways. The 3 year partner should definitely be making at least $15.75. There are no “milestone” pay raises so to speak. You only get a raise if you promote or if there is a company wide raise announced. It’s also my understanding that there are no performance based raises because there isn’t really much quantifiable data to measure a baristas performance and store managers are barely on the floor to monitor your performance so they would just give you what they thought you deserved even if it wasn’t accurate.

my pay before the raise was $12hr, it is now $15hr.

Tenured is 3 year. Also there was a weekly update right after the raises that said the pay calculation tool the managers had was not correct and some people were told amounts that were wrong. I’m an SSV and was told I’d be at $20 but then my paystub said 19.05. When I asked my manger she was just like oops I guess it was wrong. It’s really shitty cause Starbucks tried to play it off like it was no big deal but lying about peoples pay is unacceptable to me.

Lack of performance based is so everyone gets those end of year raises so it’s fair to eliminate any chance of favoritism.
That being said, I’m pretty sure you should have gotten a tenured raise. You can try talking to PCC or your DM maybe for clarification because this is a bit weird. 3 years is def long enough for tenured.

The same thing happened to me only as an ssv. I was told I would be getting a different rate by my manager but ended up getting a smaller raise than expected. I called in about it and they said that the SM’s were only given estimations and not guaranteed rates. There was nothing I could do. 😤

I find it alarming how SMs are incapable of doing basic math. My former manager also gave an inaccurate estimate for my pay raise as well. Fortunately for me my manager was very wrong. The weekly update stated: hired on or before 5/5/22: pay raise is $15/hour or 3% (whichever is higher). Tenured partners: 2-5 years at least 5% and 5 years plus is 7%.
