TMI, question about calling out sick(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dontcry2022
I have diarrhea right now. I think I know the cause - I haven't eaten much in the past few days, going through some sh*t.
I called in sick for my shift today because I really need to get myself on track with eating and sleeping so I don't actually ruin my immune system and end up getting some type of flu sickness.
I am an opener, and am one of the only baristas who knows how to do all the tasks fairly quickly, so I am worried about calling out tomorrow. I was gonna go in tomorrow for the barista who covered for me today so they would still get one of their days off. So I am additionally concerned about finding coverage.
I don't think I need to but idk if this single instance of diarrhea that I don't suspect to be related to a virus means I MUST call out.

That is specifically one of the things where you can’t work until you are symptom free for 24 hours. Doesn’t matter where you think you got it, you **must** call out.
According to the partner guide you aren’t responsible for finding coverage. If your manager already approved you covering that shift tomorrow, your coworker is also not responsible for working their original shift.
Take care of yourself! Your store has had callouts before, they’ll get through it. You are more important than your job.

I had to call in this morning ON the way to open because i threw up on myself while getting into the car. I called my sm and left her a detailed voice mail, and a text saying what happened and that i left a voicemail and will call the store at open. I normally feel so awful calling out but i guess it just took me awhile to realize that life happens and it’s okay to miss work when you need to.
