Policy for openers calling out? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sleestackshortstack
How are openers supposed to call out as a matter of policy? Obviously no one is at the store to call yet.

It's funny she wouldn't post that info, she just said, 'we'll talk about it tomorrow'.

If you’re a barista, call the SSV that you’re opening with, then let them handle it.

If you’re the opening SSV, call in the SSV that’s supposed to come in next, call your SM to get MoP turned off, and call the barista you’re opening with. After you let them know (text/voicemail), it’s not your problem anymore.

I was the opening SSV last week and was throwing up and had to wait til someone answered me, I went in, failed the coach and surprised I haven’t been separated yet

At least at our store, it’s policy that if you’re the opening barista and are sick that morning, you have to still open the store and wait for a replacement manager to come in.

Idk if that’s official policy but that’s what I did, I texted my SM and the manager that came in after me at like 2am cus that’s when I woke up vomiting, and let them know what was going on and my SM came in and sent me home. I’m talking about not passing the coach, I didn’t lie and let my SM know but I still worked with a failed coach for 2 hours

Yeah my point behind that was, unfortunately the company or management doesn’t care if you don’t pass covid coach as an opener :/ you still gotta open and wait. You did the right thing for your job

What a shitty policy

Please report this to your DM or to the compliance line.

You wouldn’t pass the coach if you did this

Good question. At our store I believe our SM doesn’t want us to call her directly and just call the store but I was wondering if that counts at a no show or not.
bigdog510 13 points 9m ago
Or just call out the day before if you can 🤪
vanilllacakez 10 points 9m ago
Not sure why people downvoted this as it’s a legitimate thing… especially if you have an emergency or sickness

At my store we as SSV have to call our SM
W0lf_2020 6 points 9m ago
We usually help open or if we can’t we text the shift opening then call the story at 4:30. Either way if we’re not a shift we call at 4:30 because if two people are already there they’re supposed to go in
Emotional_Wasabi2119 2 points 9m ago
At our store you call in exactly at 1:30am when openers get there and let the SSV deal with it. Most of the time it’s a two partner play.

1:30 am 😭

Call the opening ssv if you’re the barista and they’ll try to call the next person in. If you’re the ssv call the SM
Aurora_Boreallis 1 points 9m ago
I’ll call the ssv if they don’t answer I’ll text both ssv and manager in a group chat to cover all my bases and go back to sleep
