Advice on if I should transfer? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Easy_Cat_278
Okay so I’m a college student who transfers between two stores depending on school/summer time. I this is my third year working at the same store during school. Before I left in May, we got a new ssv transfer. Tbh he sucked at his job then. Fast forward to now, I started at this store again and he still sucks. I’ve never seen someone micromanage like this. He’s rude to other baristas and customers but doesn’t get repercussions because he’s close friends with the sm. I’m addition, this store has the highest turnover I’ve ever seen. So I only know like two people from my previous time working there.
I’ve been considering transferring because there are several stores that are much closer to me but I would only be working until May. Should I get over it at this store or transfer to another store in hopes of better ssv and sm?

TLDR: Rude ssv and sm; transfer to another store or stay because I’m only working until May?

Transfer. That’s a long time to be unhappy with your work situation.

7 months? Transfer.

I agree that 7 months is definitely plenty of time to allow for a transfer request! I might be wrong, but it sounds like you still have another year of college coming up as well? Plenty of time. Your happiness matters too; stores with high turnover are difficult!

Transfer, May is a long ways away. About 2 years ago was when I transferred away from my first store, when I’d been planning to hold out till May. I definitely would not have made it to May at my first store. I’ve transferred stores twice and I had reservations both times but in the end they were the right moves for me. Sometimes the dynamic that makes a store work well just dies, and it’s ok if that means you need to find a store with a better dynamic.
