heating breakfast foods @ home (self.starbucksbaristas)

i got a bunch of impossible sandwiches and spinach feta wraps from closing last night, i know we’re not allowed to take them but i can’t afford groceries right now :’) what’s the best way to heat them? i assume the air fryer would work best/quickest, but what temp/time would you guys recommend?
Patoxotap27 82 points 9m ago
Air fryer for sure
RepresentativeArm464 46 points 9m ago
If you have a tiny conventional oven that’d work too!
diphenhydranautical [OP] 17 points 9m ago
i do not, just an air fryer :( im just not sure what temperature and time to set it at
Ordinary-Theory-8289 18 points 9m ago
If you have an air fryer that’s 100% the move. Maybe warm them a bit in the microwave then air fry to make ‘em crispy. Or just throw them in the oven
RepresentativeArm464 16 points 9m ago
Mmm probably around 400 degrees and see how long that takes.
diphenhydranautical [OP] 9 points 9m ago
okey thank you :)!

i agree with microwave and then air fry. i got a couple of sausage egg and cheddar sandwiches today and i microwaved them for 2 minutes and bc it seemed really soggy i air fried it for 5 mins. or what i did another time was air fry at 375 for 7 mins, take the top without the cheese melted onto it off, and air fry again for 5 mins (i hope this makes sense)
vanilllacakez 26 points 9m ago
Starbucks can afford it and it most likely gets wasted anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️ some do food banks but A LOT of waste comes from this place
diphenhydranautical [OP] 13 points 9m ago
yeah it makes me so mad, i am killing myself between two jobs and can barely afford all of my bills. i’m tired of having to choose between dinner and having enough gas to get to work lol
b99__throwaway 19 points 9m ago
when i take paninis home i freeze them until i’m ready to eat them & then i microwave for a little just to thaw them & pan fry 😋
diphenhydranautical [OP] 14 points 9m ago
tbh i love the paninis cold… i’m vegetarian so i can only have tomato mozzarella but it’s really good cold! i like the cold grilled cheese with a bit of spicy ranch too. when i still lived with my parents they had a panini press and THAT was amazing for the tomato mozzarella sandwiches. but i cook the grilled cheese like a normal grilled cheese in a pan, had that for dinner last night with some canned soup i forgot we had…… delicious
b99__throwaway 7 points 9m ago
i pan fry them open faced usually, mostly the ham & swiss & the chicken bacon when we still had it, but doing the grilled cheese open faced for a bit is delicious bc it gets crispy on the inside toooo
vivnaomi 14 points 9m ago
Regular microwave BUT change the power level.
There’s a button for it and it’s usually automatically on 10.
For the impossibles, put it in for 2mins on the power level 6. Keeps the bread from getting hard. If it’s not warm enough, I’d do 30s on level 8.
fuse-fire2334 14 points 9m ago
I used my oven, 350 for like 10 mins tops
thatactorjoe 7 points 9m ago
haha, my go-to was always open faced in a toaster over...put some sriracha on it and you're cruisin'

I feel you on the sandwiches though, sometimes they were a complete lifesaver monetarily...but ofc, starbucks would rather throw food away and fire you for stealing trash lol.
Evening_Somewhere_99 5 points 9m ago
we're not allowed to take them?
diphenhydranautical [OP] 9 points 9m ago
nah they’re supposed to be donated. our donation person only comes (sometimes) on fridays and we’re only allowed to keep donations for 2 days so most of the time they would have to get thrown out anyways… it really sickens me bc i work two jobs and can’t even afford groceries lol

but most shifts don’t give a fuck if we take them at least in my experience
PandaVike 5 points 9m ago
I thaw mine (pull from freezer the afternoon before like at a store) and then wrap in a paper towel and microwave for ~ 50 seconds. Keep in mind I’ve only done this for bacon goudas and Turkey bacon, not a heartier one like sausage.
Boring_Peace_675 3 points 9m ago
350 for 15 works for me!
General-Extension-18 3 points 9m ago
400 in air fryer open faced for 6 mins :)
Torirock10 3 points 9m ago
open faced air fryer. i do like 350 for 8 mins or smth?? jus u til it’s all crispay and good
Traditional-Emu-1403 2 points 9m ago
I nuke them for a little bit and then pop them in the oven for texture. Air fryer would be better. No judgement here on taking things, it’s so wrong to throw food out while people go hungry.

Just wanted to say I've been there too. At my store literally no one gives a fuck if you take extra food, idk what the vibe is at your store but I bet more people will turn a blind eye than you think. The other thing I do is not mark out my snacks, that way at the end of the night I can mark out a few extra things to take home without eating into my mark out allowance. That also depends on your store though—mine is pretty chill.

Also, if you haven't already, look into food stamps. The application process is really easy. They'll pretty much just need to see your paystubs and you're good to go
diphenhydranautical [OP] 1 points 9m ago
thank you! our store used to be more cool about stuff like that but we got a new SM who doesn’t trust me yet so i’m being overly cautious rn. we have looked into food stamps but our monthly income varies so much because of the inconsistent hours at our jobs , and we’re right around the threshold :(
xiomaruugh 2 points 9m ago
For the wraps, if I’m in a hurry I’ll heat for them 30 seconds in the microwave then put them on an oil skillet.
DieMatz 2 points 9m ago
Air frier is the move!!!
Try 5min and then 5min
Inevitable_Emu_221 2 points 9m ago
I googled this a while back. Sandwich/paninis in cold oven. Turn oven on to 400 degrees, once it is done preheating your food is ready!
diphenhydranautical [OP] 1 points 9m ago
my oven doesn’t have numbers on it :’)
Aliciarox11189 2 points 9m ago
Microwave start at 30secs and go up depending on how warm u want it
gabby24681 2 points 9m ago
Another vote for air fryer with added microwave time to speed it up
iiwinterkittenii 2 points 9m ago
If you have a toaster oven cook open faced for 10 minutes on 350 it should come out perfect or better than in store
Gameb0i6 2 points 9m ago
I use an air fryer when I bring them home. Works the best
vertigo00o 2 points 9m ago
400 for like 5-10 mins would be best and it’s sooooo good like that
i’ve had a double smokey and a cheesy dane that way
xiew 2 points 9m ago
Preheat air fryer to 370 and then start with 4 minutes and add time as needed
flaudew 2 points 9m ago
For the impossible I honestly like to microwave them (from refrigerated, not from frozen) for about 40 seconds because I like the texture of the buns more that way. For the feta wraps I like to brown them in a pan on the stove on a low to medium heat until the cheese looks melty. Hope things get better!
