2022 new starbucks policy ?!?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Confused on how they decided to make a new policy that if you take off more than 3 days you need to take a leave of absence?!? like wtf is that about
has this been something that's always been a policy ? jw bc manager is telling us this and also how you need to have a certain amount of availability and hours a week to work there... no longer a flexible job

It has always been a policy, it just hasn't been enforced.

You can request off more than three days, but if you call in sick for more than three consecutive shifts you can be asked to apply for a LOA and that’s always been policy
The availability rule ultimately comes down to you have to work at least twice a week (two 6hr shifts, or some other combination), which is still a lot of flexibility. It can be frustrating for college students or people who tried to work seasonally, but 🤷🏼♀️

yeah i guess it was never enforced, live in a college town with 90% of workers being college students i don't get how that could work when they are saying if we go home for holidays and it's more than 3 days. we have to apply for LOA ..

Only when you call out 3 or more shifts if you take time off or get shifts covered you don’t have to

most of the college students i know transfer between 2 stores, one in their hometown & one in their college town so they still have a job when they go home for summer etc

Really? Just got a 5 day time off request approved, no questions asked

that's why i'm confused, my manager is brand new to starbs and not even a year in and apparently just now reading about these policies? idk but we were told today that if we take time off, and don't use vacation time then we need to apply for leave of absence, and everyone flipped
