Calling out / covid (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by RighteousnessBrigade
Hey everyone,
I know this is really dumb. But I get such bad anxiety calling out, and I have only been with Starbucks for 6months and haven’t called out before.
Everyone in my household has covid and symptoms. My manager had me going into work while I’m still negative. As of a two days ago I started to feel like crap, but still negative.
Now I just tested positive.
My shift is at 7am tomorrow.
How do I go about this? (Yes I’m aware we no longer are receiving covid pay)
Do I just tell my manager? Do I have to find coverage for the morning and then let manager know? Do I have to find coverage for the rest of the week?
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thank you so much ~

Ah covid pay. Wish I could abuse that again.

THIS! HAHAHA! So stupid the company took this away for people who legitimately get Covid and have to choose between their health and paying their bills, but that being said working for the past 3 years through Covid in CA as a barista who is has always been pretty close with all my partners THIS is SO prevalent. Like last time I was thinking about it I could confidently say 85% of the partners out for it were just taking advantage of it. Fucken sad because people die from it and lose family members from it but hey it’s free time off I guess.

Call the store and then your manager now, you are not responsible for finding coverage. As far as I’m aware, it’s still 5days isolation then 5days masked, and you can use sick time to make up the pay if you have enough saved up
