Hey All, I know it's hard to care about cc scores in a time where many of us are burnt out and overworked, but as part of my goals to not just potentially move up within the company but also fix morale at my store, I'm trying to find unique ideas to help us increase our score. What has your store done in the past, and how did it work out?
So far my ideas are: Tip jar questions and polls A "barista pick" of the week where I ask a partner to write their favorite drink on a blackboard in the cafe.
I've also seen Bingo cards online that partners fill out, but I feel like being constantly understaffed that would just add another stressor to someone trying to get work done.
Any creative ideas?

just as an fyi tip jars can't have anything written on or near them to indicate they're tip jars. they can only be in the clear plastic containers :(
greeting the customers when they walk in and having everyone in a good mood is the main thing i've seen actually boost our numbers. once one person is shouting good morning, everyone follows suit.
good luck!

Thank you, I didn't know that about tip jars! We do have the plastic containers at least.
Yes, I'm big on greeting and try to lead by example. Thanks!

CC starts with your team. What does your team need to feel motivated to connect? Do they need conversation starters? Do they need more regular breaks from customer interaction to regain their energy? Do they need something to be excited about — a sample, a barista creation, an interactive display? My store loved to do post-it notes on our bar glass with a written prompt. Something like, “what’s your hidden talent?” or “draw a self portrait!” and I would always go around and have my baristas start with their post-it at the beginning of their shift. It encouraged customers to also participate and it gave baristas the chance to settle in to the environment before being tossed on bar. I also liked switching people every hour, on the hour, no matter what they say — giving people a break from their positions is necessary and the 10’s and 30’s just don’t cut it. If your team wants to get CC up, they can get CC up, but please don’t take it on as a one person job when it is far from it.

Such good ideas! Also, thanks for the last bit as a reminder. I have a tendency to try to do things myself despite this job being team-oriented. It's something I'm actively working on.

Customer Connection bingo works actually so well. (Used to work in a mall store) when we did customer connection bingo every quarter our score would jump by like 20 points which was awesome. That extra incentive for partners was great.

Wow! Maybe it isn't time to dismiss Bingo just yet..

My store puts out a bean poll at the end of our bar as a talking point with customers. For it to actually be effective tho you have to make sure that the poll question is something the partners know/want to talk with people about.
CoffeeChesirecat [OP]1 points9m ago
That's awesome! Do you share results of the poll the next day or no?
MelodramaticMarzipan2 points9m ago
It’s more of a daily thing, we let customers put beans in a labeled cup to “vote” so it’s very business dependent and we erase it and do a new poll every day. But if you catch someone while they’re voting it’s a very good convo starter

That's so creative and cute. I really want to see if my team is enthusiastic about this. Thank you!
