“Not a priority” (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by peachiebunn
We are one of the busiest stores in our district and every single person who has to work on bar is begging DM and SM for the new machines because the blonde drinks slow us down so much. Our machines are constantly breaking. And everyone who brings up this concern is met with the same response verbatim- “its not a priority for this store.”
You know who has priority? The new stores. One which i used to work at and i transferred because i was tired of standing around with nothing to do. These are the stores that get priority- the ones that have no business.
Im so sick of it… i’ll have 10 shaken espressos lined up waiting for shots. All this does is tempt us to go against standard and make the drinks in the cup instead of the shaker, or make them with regular shots on the second bar instead.

Are you from my store lol, we have the fastest drive times in our district, and are a fairly high volume store, and still haven't gotten the M2s. Every time I get borrowed to a different store I have to stop myself from asking the other bar for blonde shots because I'm so used to being mobile / cafe bar (which only has decaf) at my home store.
MarieCrepes 43 points 9m ago
My store has the IDENTICAL problem. We range from $60k-$80k depending on the week and it gets so backed up during peak because of how slow the shots pull and the confusion that comes from pulling a million blonde stickers that can only be made at the one bar. It's fucking annoying because my old, shitty, low volume store had the Mastrena II's and my new high volume store doesn't. Sigh.
testingaurora 7 points 9m ago
Your store had or has the same problem? If 'had' what happened?
MarieCrepes 5 points 9m ago
No, you're right, has. That was a mistype. Although we did recently have the regional manager come and my SM gently reminded him it would be nice to get the Mastrena II's and he was a complete dick about it (although the DM spoke to him and he apologized to my SM after so)

Wow what a doo-shh bag
dazedandconfusedhere 3 points 9m ago
You can reroute stickers so that blonde espresso drinks all print to the bar that can actually make them
MarieCrepes 6 points 9m ago
Generally they do print on the right bar, sometimes they randomly don't though - we've even had blonde drinks somehow get routed to our warming printer 🤦‍♀️

Just make it with regular shots tbh
GVRDENS_1 21 points 9m ago
I’m convinced most Starbucks customers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference tbh. They just want the sugar
thewannabwitch 8 points 9m ago
Straight facts. I'm from a small licensed store so we don't have blonde espresso but we have mobile ordering and people order drinks that automatically come with blonde all the time. Nobody has noticed that we make their drinks with regular espresso and the only times i get worried is when a drink that doesn't automatically come with blonde shots is customized to have it

I understand your frustration. I work at a store that’s a year and a half old and our new machines have the same issue with blonde shots. Do they get serviced when your shift puts a ticket?
udderlymoovelous 3 points 9m ago
Not OP, but my store has had the m2s for almost 4 years and constantly has this issue. Calibrating helps for a few hours, but we do have to put a ticket in at *least* twice a month
miniinovaa 14 points 9m ago
This is why I usually do not care if shots died while we are busy lmfao. If I have the time, yes I do care, but during peak? Hell no lmao
lewabwee 11 points 9m ago
Having two machines with blonde would help you. The new machines otherwise wouldn’t help you. They’re awful. Break constantly. Don’t hold up at all. Impossible to calibrate a good shot, no matter how many times you pull them. Bleh.
nicolelynnejones 10 points 9m ago
The blonde drinks are seriously taking like at least a minute to make at this point. And that’s if they pull at all.
Gameb0i6 9 points 9m ago
Priority my ass. Our cold brew system kept breaking down. Like every week we’d have to put in a service ticket for it. It was costing us more to have it fixed every week so they just gave us the new systems. Your SM and DM are idiots.
peachiebunn [OP] 1 points 7m ago
I feel your pain
peachiebunn [OP] 1 points 7m ago
Our cold brew system breaks down every single day. No matter how many times they have it serviced…
W0lf_2020 1 points 9m ago
We didn’t have nitro cold brew for a year because they never came and fixed our system
RighteousnessBrigade 3 points 9m ago
Honestly- just relieved to know it’s not just us 🙃
butterflymomo 3 points 9m ago
felt this one, we get a different excuse every time we push for new machines. "there's no room" "it's not a priority" "actually the water pressure is too low" "we're getting to it" ???? which one is it then?
Tungsten18348 2 points 9m ago
It could be all of these, we have constant “water flow low” problems which is pressure were told. We can BARELY fit all the syrups and sauces between the two and yes, they break with a simple whole bean falling into its freaking drain… so while faster, they are like a glass cannon.

What is your counter space like? I was told most stores that don't have the M2s at this point don't have them because they need to be remodeled so there's room for the machines. They have a larger foot print then the old machines. In my area stores were given the M2s by volume. Not sure if maybe that's just my area/district. But around here they did it by busiest to slowest.
peachiebunn [OP] 1 points 7m ago
It could definitely be part of the issue. Theyre telling us now apparently we will get them soon. I dont know if that means we’ll be getting a remodel or not. My guess is theyll just squeeze them in and leave hardly any counter space.
Hazel_is_Trans 3 points 9m ago
Same with my store
AdIll7946 1 points 9m ago
I’m gonna be completely honest with you. It’s not a priority, because you’re surviving without them. Them not giving you machines is cheaper and easier for them, and they have no motivation to waste their time or money because you still are high volume, no matter the mental state of your team. The new bars would do wonders for making your jobs easier.

When they say it’s not a priority, YOU, the baristas are what they aren’t prioritizing.
peachiebunn [OP] 1 points 7m ago
Exactly. Hit that nail on the head
RubySapphireSage 1 points 9m ago
Our bars have been here since the store was made so I heard they are one of the “new ones” from the old era I guess lol , I heard other new stores have the better equipment from partners who would go work shifts from their it’s upsetting because our bars would breakdown every other day and we have people come “fix them” which worsens the condition because the techs in my area can’t seem to “find the problem” or usually are rushing .
Alefur 1 points 9m ago
It took a legit remodel of our store, being closed for a whole month(which they didn't even finish the entire remodel there's still some things missing) got us to get the new machines.
I wish I could say you'd get them soon but honestly.. learning to just accept that the old machines will break over and over again being out of your control and going with the flow of them is the best you can do. It sucks, but ultimately there's nothing you can do :T
